Job Description
The candidate is responsible for the overall design of the Transportation information architecture and data model ensuring alignment with the client enterprise architecture, and which meets all security and performance requirements. Focuses on enterprise-wide data and database design, consults in the solutioning process with business clients, business analysts, architects, and team members.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in engineering or computer science, or equivalent.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related discipline
- 15+ years related work experience
- Excellent written, presentation and verbal communications skills
- Experience with Architecture frameworks including DMBOK and BIZBOK
- Broad level of understanding of information architecture standards
- Expert level of advanced database programming techniques, applications and systems design
- Experience in Data Management of Transportation systems required
- Rail experience highly preferred
- Demonstrated experience in Information Architecture
- Demonstrated experience in Information Design, Modeling, and Implementation
- Demonstrated experience with Relational and NoSql technologies
- Experience with streaming technologies including Kafka and Kafka Schema Registry
- Knowledge of distributed systems architecture, middleware and design
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Evaluate, design, implement, and maintain technical information architecture for the Transportation Operations ecosystem
- Lead creation of standard information/data model for the ecosystem including database, event, and API contracts
- Guide selection and usage of information technologies
- Perform database, event, and API modeling
- Perform advanced database and query tuning
- Verify data integrity across the system portfolio
- Review database design and recommend opportunities for enhancement
- Provide mentorship and training in the use of information technologies
- Provide technical support and guidance in the investigation, analysis, and resolution of information technology issues
- Perform research and analysis on new information technologies
- Evaluate, establish, and implement policies and procedures relating to database management, security, maintenance, and utilization
- Inform Amtrak Enterprise Information Management standards
