Job Summary
State Street is seeking an experienced SWIFT Payments professional with strong expertise in payment processing, SWIFT messaging, and financial services. The candidate will be responsible for supporting and enhancing payment applications and ensuring accurate, secure, and timely processing of financial transactions.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, configure, and support SWIFT payment processing solutions.
  • Work with SWIFT MT and ISO 20022 MX messages, including payment-related message types.
  • Support payment flows such as wire transfers, cross-border payments, ACH, and securities-related payments.
  • Analyze payment failures, exceptions, and reconciliation issues and provide timely resolution.
  • Work closely with business analysts, payment operations, QA, infrastructure, and other technology teams.
  • Perform requirements analysis, application enhancements, testing, and production support.
  • Monitor payment processing and investigate transaction-level issues.
  • Participate in incident, problem, and change management processes.
  • Ensure solutions comply with financial-services security, regulatory, and operational requirements.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation and operational procedures.
Required Skills
  • 5+ years of experience in banking/financial services payments.
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of SWIFT payment messaging.
  • Experience with SWIFT MT messages and ISO 20022 MX messages.
  • Understanding of payment processing lifecycle, including initiation, validation, routing, settlement, and reconciliation.
  • Experience with SWIFT Alliance / Alliance Access / Alliance Gateway or similar SWIFT infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of ISO 20022, payment modernization, and migration from MT to MX.
  • Strong understanding of wire payments and cross-border payment processing.
  • Experience troubleshooting payment exceptions and production issues.
  • Strong SQL skills for transaction investigation and data analysis.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with SWIFT gpi.
  • Knowledge of Fedwire, CHIPS, ACH, or other payment networks.
  • Experience with The Clearing House / RTP or instant-payment systems.
  • Knowledge of AML, sanctions screening, OFAC, and payment compliance.
  • Experience with payment hubs or platforms such as Finastra, FIS, ACI, VolPay, or similar.
  • Experience with API-based payment integrations.
  • Cloud and microservices experience is a plus.
