Our firm is partnering with a leading organization in the renewable energy and clean technology sector to identify an experienced Software Developer / Systems Engineer with deep expertise in AWS and VMware infrastructure. This role supports large-scale, mission-critical platforms that enable sustainable energy solutions across the U.S.

You will play a key role in designing, supporting, and evolving cloud and virtualized infrastructure environments, working closely with Systems Operations, Security, DevOps, and Network Engineering teams. As a Systems Engineer focused on AWS and VMware infrastructure, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of core enterprise platforms. This role blends hands-on engineering with cross-functional collaboration and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities include:

• Architecting, implementing, and supporting AWS infrastructure services with a focus on scalability, cost efficiency, and operational excellence
• Administering and optimizing VMware vCenter environments, including ESXi hosts, clusters, storage platforms, and virtual networking
• Troubleshooting complex infrastructure issues across compute, storage, and network layers
• Designing and maintaining AWS and VMware networking configurations (VPCs, subnets, routing, VLAN/VDS, security groups, and hybrid connectivity)
• Partnering with Network Engineering to align cloud and on-prem connectivity, routing, access control, and data center network strategy
• Supporting both Windows and Linux server environments, including OS configuration, lifecycle management, and performance tuning
• Managing Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and related identity and infrastructure services
• Creating and maintaining documentation, runbooks, diagrams, and automation to improve operational maturity
• Contributing to broader systems administration and infrastructure engineering initiatives aligned with the organization’s technology roadmap

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:

• 5–8+ years of experience supporting production AWS and VMware vCenter environments
• AWS Solutions Architect certification (Associate level or higher)
• VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or equivalent certification
• Strong knowledge of AWS services, cloud networking, IAM, and architectural best practices
• Hands-on expertise with VMware ESXi, HA/DRS, networking, storage integrations, and performance optimization
• Experience administering Windows Server and Linux operating systems
• Proficiency with Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and core infrastructure services
• Scripting or automation experience using PowerShell, Bash, Python, or similar tools
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across technical teams

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Infoblox for DNS, DHCP, and IPAM management
• Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation
• Experience with Okta, hybrid identity solutions, SSO/IAM architectures, and device trust models
• Knowledge of monitoring and observability tools (e.g., Datadog, CloudWatch, VMware Aria, Elastic)
• Broader systems engineering experience supporting cross-functional initiatives such as patching, configuration management, CI/CD, MDM, or containerized environments
