Resource 1 is in need of a Sr. IT Project Manager Consultant (Production Support) on a contract, hybrid basis in Chicago, IL for an initial 3-month engagement. The resource will lead a discovery and analysis effort to stabilize production support processes, triage a large backlog, and establish consistent governance and handoffs between the PMO and delivery teams. The role will deliver process improvements, stage gates, project plans, and visual dashboards to improve decision making and prepare the organization for ERP-related changes.
Responsibilities:
· Conduct discovery and analysis of current production support processes, tools, and decision flows.
· Triage and assess backlog items (approximately 1500 entries) and recommend prioritization and routing criteria.
· Document current state workflows, technical and functional designs, and identify gaps in handoffs between PMO and delivery teams.
· Design and propose process improvements, governance, SLOs and stage gates for enhancements versus break/fix work.
· Create implementation plans and support rollout of new processes while securing buy-in from team leads and stakeholders.
· Build or configure dashboards and visualizations in Power BI to provide leadership visibility into work and metrics.
· Coordinate with contractors, tech leads, PMO, and business stakeholders to align decisions and change management activities.
Required Skills & Experience:
· 10+ years of project and/or program management experience with strong PMO and process improvement background.
· Demonstrated production support, call center, or support-management experience in enterprise environments.
· Experience with backlog triage, prioritization, and governance implementation.
· Familiarity with Jira (preferred), ADO, Tempo, and ticketing tools.
· Experience building dashboards and reports for leadership visibility.
· Strong stakeholder engagement, communication, and change management skills.
Plusses:
· ITIL experience or certification.
· Experience supporting ERP migrations or large application rationalization programs.
· Familiarity with enterprise architecture governance and change advisory board processes.
