JOB SUMMARY:
Business Operational Concepts (BOC) is currently seeking a seeking a Linux Administrator to work with our federal client. The ideal candidate will assist in troubleshooting and tier 1-3 remediation of issues within our federal customers Linux environment. They will interface with the Senior Linux system administration team and the Technical/Team lead.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Perform System Administration for the Linux environments
* Ensure a highly available production environment through monitoring, troubleshooting, and remediation
* Monitors and responds to hardware and software problems
* Implements upgrades and patches.
* Provides morning checks of servers/application.
* Provides system administration on Oracle Linux servers and some basic Windows system administration
* Expanding knowledge through working with Senior Admins and independent learning
* Ensures the availability of enterprise computing environments through daily, preventive, and remedial maintenance
* Installs, configures, and maintains server hardware, operating systems, applications, and supporting peripherals
* Assist with remediation of security vulnerabilities
* Document processes and procedures
* Assists with asset management and inventory of IT assets
Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required (Minimum) Qualifications Education, Certification, Experience, and Skills
* Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
* 1+ years of Linux system administration experience, preferably Oracle Linux or Red Hat Enterprise Linux using command line interface
* Ability to work in a team environment and support internal and external customers
* Ability to prioritize multiple project tasks to keep all projects moving forward
* Understanding of 'Core Services' like but not limited to DNS, DHCP, SMTP, HTTP, SSH, BASH etc
* Basic Windows system administration skills
* Strong oral and written communication
* Eagerness to learn new skills
Preferred Qualifications Education, Certification, Experience, Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
* Understanding of automation using shell, Ansible, and kickstart scripting
* Understanding of cloud computing, ideally on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure
* Monitoring methodologies, ideally with Nagios XI
* User and privilege management with FreeIPA/Red Hat Identity Manager
