Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for a
Vehicle Electronics Installation and Support Technician for a
FULL TIME assignment with one of our premier Technology clients in
New York City. This is a non-exempt hourly job with a typical 40-50 hour week that is paid hourly with full benefits. This is a field support position and you will be deployed daily throughout NYC starting and ending your day on Randalls Island anywhere between 6 and 8AM ending between 2 and 4 PM.
This role is increasingly computer based, making it ideal for those with a solid understanding of both modern technology and practical electrical skills.
Responsibilities :
- The Support Technician will be responsible for troubleshooting components within a field mounted enclosure, components mounted in vehicles, repairing / replacing failed components, and reporting your findings.
- To succeed in this position, you should also be able to read prints, diagrams, and understand how various electronics interconnect and communicate.
- Since this is a customer facing role, the resource needs to be skilled in managing customer interactions and expectations in a very professional and rigorous environment. Most of our clients are Law Enforcement organizations, so interactions need to be timely and precise. Wiring work is expected to be executed safely, consistently and neatly at all times.
Required Skills:
- Electrical and Wiring Expertise: You should have intermediate electrical experience, including the ability to trace and fit wires through vehicles, and be familiar with vehicle wiring and electrical components.
- Network Setup and Troubleshooting: Experience in setting up and troubleshooting network devices is essential. Some networking experience is a plus (switches, cabling, and cellular)
- Vehicle Accessories Management: You will be responsible for mounting, troubleshooting, and disassembling vehicle accessories and hardware. Familiarity with camera wiring, alignment, and mounting is strongly preferred
- Technical Skills: Strong experience with the Windows desktop environment, and familiarity with command line and PowerShell is required. Experience troubleshooting program installations and having a CompTIA A+ certification will be advantageous.
- Physical Requirements: The role requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs and to be comfortable driving long distances daily.
- Organizational Skills: The candidate must be extremely organized, capable of handling administrative tasks efficiently including keeping logs and track of inventory.
- Ability to thrive in a fast paced, multi-tasking environment, and to manage multiple deadlines and working well under pressure
