Purpose of the role

To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues.

Accountabilities
  • Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
  • Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
  • Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization's technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
  • Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
  • Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.

This role sits at the core of our Capital Markets technology platform, supporting critical Stock Loan and Equity Finance businesses globally. You will work closely with trading, product, and technology teams to design and build high-performance systems, influence architectural decisions, and deliver scalable front-office solutions with real business impact.

To be successful as a Senior Java Developer - VP, you should have experience with:

  • Advanced Java development, including multi-threading, memory management, and performance tuning
  • Designing and building enterprise applications using Spring Boot and the broader Spring ecosystem
  • Developing and optimizing relational database solutions using Microsoft SQL Server
  • Building message-driven and asynchronous systems using technologies such as JMS, Solace, Kafka, RabbitMQ, or ActiveMQ
  • Working within Capital Markets with good knowledge of Stock Loan and Equity Finance products across asset classes

Some other highly valued skills may include:

  • Designing and operating microservices-based architectures in Java and Spring Boot
  • Deploying applications on cloud platforms and using containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Implementing automated testing, TDD practices, and CI/CD pipelines
  • Using Git and structured branching strategies in large-scale development environments
  • Applying good analytical and problem-solving skills to complex technical and business challenges

Minimum Salary: $170,000

Maximum Salary: $230,000
