Manager, Cloud Architecture

About the Role

The Manager, Cloud Architecture is responsible for translating the organization''s cloud and infrastructure strategy into disciplined, day-to-day execution. Reporting to the Director of Cloud & Infrastructure Solutions, this role leads a team of systems engineers, network engineers, identity engineers, and access management specialists responsible for the reliability, security, and continuous optimization of cloud and on-premises environments.

This is a player-coach leadership role requiring both technical depth and strong operational leadership. The ideal candidate is capable of evaluating architectural decisions, guiding technical direction, and ensuring the team consistently delivers against service levels, operational standards, security requirements, and cost objectives. This leader serves as the Director''s primary execution partner and is accountable for overall platform performance, operational excellence, and team success.

Responsibilities

Cloud Platform Management

• Execute the organization''s cloud strategy across IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, and hybrid environments while ensuring adherence to established architectural standards.
• Own day-to-day cloud operations, including compute, storage, networking, identity services, and cost management, with accountability for platform reliability and service levels.
• Lead cloud financial management by monitoring spend, enforcing governance standards, identifying optimization opportunities, and reporting performance metrics.
• Oversee the operational management of SaaS platforms, ensuring secure integrations, governance, and lifecycle management.
• Drive automation initiatives that improve efficiency, reduce manual effort, and standardize operational processes.

Infrastructure & Systems Engineering

• Manage server, storage, virtualization, and compute environments, ensuring performance, scalability, resilience, and lifecycle management.
• Oversee endpoint management, identity platforms, and access administration while maintaining strong security and least-privilege practices.
• Lead disaster recovery and business continuity planning, including testing, documentation, and operational readiness.
• Partner with network engineering teams to ensure seamless integration between cloud infrastructure, networking, and security architectures.

Identity & Access Management

• Lead identity and access management operations, including user provisioning, role-based access controls, privileged access management, and lifecycle management.
• Oversee single sign-on, multi-factor authentication, and enterprise identity platform administration.
• Collaborate with Information Security teams to maintain secure, auditable identity controls aligned with enterprise security strategies.

Leadership & Operational Excellence

• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of infrastructure, network, and identity engineers by establishing clear expectations, coaching, and driving accountability.
• Establish and maintain operational processes including incident management, change management, problem management, and capacity planning using IT service management best practices.
• Ensure enterprise monitoring and observability standards are maintained across all infrastructure platforms.
• Manage vendor relationships, ensuring service providers meet contractual service levels and operational expectations.
• Partner with business and technology stakeholders to communicate platform health, project status, risks, and strategic initiatives in clear business terms.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor''s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Network Administration, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure, systems engineering, or network engineering, including at least 2 years in a leadership or management role.
• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, including compute, storage, networking, identity services, and cloud governance.
• Experience managing enterprise identity and access management environments, including single sign-on, multi-factor authentication, lifecycle management, and privileged access controls.
• Experience supporting virtualization platforms, enterprise storage solutions, and data center infrastructure.
• Solid understanding of networking concepts, cloud connectivity, segmentation, and modern security architectures.
• Experience leading disaster recovery and business continuity planning, testing, and operational readiness.
• Practical experience with cloud cost management, governance, tagging strategies, and resource optimization.
• Proven ability to lead technical teams, develop talent, and build a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into business-focused outcomes.

Preferred

• Microsoft Azure Administrator (AZ-104) or Azure Solutions Architect (AZ-305) certification.
• Identity platform certification (such as Okta Administrator or equivalent).
• Experience with enterprise monitoring, logging, and cloud security platforms.
• Experience with infrastructure automation and Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform, Bicep, PowerShell, or Ansible.
• Experience supporting organizations with multiple business units, acquisitions, or complex enterprise environments.
• ITIL Foundation or equivalent IT service management certification.
