Responsibilities

As a Systems Administrator, you will provide administration, operation, maintenance, and security support for information systems supporting the Print and Media Distribution Division (PMDD). You will manage Windows-based servers, workstations, virtual environments, applications, and network-connected devices while ensuring system availability, performance, and compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) cybersecurity requirements. Responsibilities include supporting Risk Management Framework (RMF) activities such as vulnerability management, security control implementation, continuous monitoring, audit support, and maintaining required cybersecurity documentation to help ensure systems remain compliant and authorized to operate. In assuming this position, you will be a critical contributor to meeting Empower AI's mission: To deliver innovative, cost-effective solutions and services that enable our customers to rapidly adapt to dynamic environments. This position is located in St. Louis, Missouri; relocation assistance, while not guaranteed, may be available. An active Secret clearance is required.

Highlights of Responsibilities:
  • Administer, maintain, and support Windows servers, workstations, laptops, tablets, printers, virtual machines, and associated IT infrastructure supporting the U.S. Army Print and Media Distribution Division (USAPMDD).
  • Configure, deploy, monitor, and maintain VMware ESXi, vCenter, virtual servers, and supporting virtualization technologies.
  • Manage Active Directory user accounts, group memberships, organizational units, Group Policy Objects (GPOs), and authentication services to support secure system operations.
  • Create, manage, and support user accounts and administrative functions within Army Microsoft 365 (A365) and related enterprise services.
  • Monitor and manage server file shares, access controls, backups, audit logs, and system performance to ensure operational availability and data integrity.
  • Install, configure, test, patch, upgrade, and maintain operating systems, applications, firmware, and hardware components in accordance with established configuration management processes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, network, printer, VoIP, and end-user technical issues; coordinate with internal and external support organizations to restore services and resolve outages.
  • Support technology refresh initiatives by installing, migrating, upgrading, and decommissioning end-of-life equipment and systems.
  • Open, manage, and coordinate support cases with vendors and service providers, including Microsoft, VMware, Cisco, DISA, NETCOM, and other stakeholders as required.
  • Document system configurations, maintain network and infrastructure diagrams, track system changes, and support Change Control Board (CCB) activities.
  • Implement and maintain cybersecurity controls in accordance with the Risk Management Framework (RMF), DoDI 8500.01, DoDI 8510.01, NIST SP 800-53 Rev. 5, and applicable Department of Defense cybersecurity requirements.
  • Develop, maintain, and update RMF documentation and artifacts, including system diagrams, configuration documentation, Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms), security procedures, and supporting authorization packages.
  • Perform Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) and Security Requirements Guide (SRG) reviews; create and maintain STIG checklists; document mitigations; and ensure systems remain compliant with applicable security requirements.
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments and compliance reviews using ACAS/Nessus, SCAP Compliance Checker (SCC), STIG Viewer, and related cybersecurity tools; analyze results and coordinate remediation activities.
  • Review, test, and apply security patches, firmware updates, vulnerability remediations, and cybersecurity directives to maintain system security and compliance.
  • Maintain eMASS records and supporting cybersecurity documentation; track vulnerability findings, corrective actions, and POA&M items to support continuous monitoring and compliance activities.
  • Support Assessment and Authorization (A&A) activities, cybersecurity inspections, audits, and security control assessments by preparing required documentation, system inventories, and technical artifacts.
  • Evaluate proposed system changes, hardware, software, and network enhancements for security impacts and compliance with RMF requirements.
  • Support incident response, contingency operations, backup and recovery activities, and cybersecurity investigations to ensure mission continuity and system resiliency.
  • Prepare and deliver status reports, document completed work, and provide technical briefings and recommendations to government stakeholders as required.

Qualifications

Requirements:

Active Secret security clearance required.

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

CompTIA Security+ certification required (DoD 8570/8140 compliant), or a higher-level certification such as CASP+ (SecurityX) or CISSP.

Minimum of 2 years of experience in cybersecurity, information assurance, system administration, IT operations, or a related technical field.

Experience supporting and administering Windows-based information systems, implementing security controls, and maintaining compliance with cybersecurity requirements is preferred.
