Job Title: Program Manager (IT) III - Domain Data Management Specialist
Location: Remote (US)
Duration: 6+ months contract
Max Pay Rate: $66-67/hr. on w2
Join as a Domain Data Management Specialist on the Cloud Data Technologies (CDT) Program Management team supporting stateoftheart data platforms that empower millions of buyers and sellers worldwide. At client, a global commerce leader, you ll work with passionate thinkers and innovators to design, develop, and evolve scalable, reliable, and cost-efficient systems driving the end-to-end data lifecycle.
Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Data Management Specialist to support domain-driven data initiatives across multiple business use cases. The ideal candidate has a strong grasp of data management, spanning ingestion, pipelining, transformation, quality, and governance. They must be skilled at collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, well-documented, and scalable data solutions. This role sits at the intersection of product, engineering, analytics, and governance, ensuring domain-aligned data is discoverable, trustworthy, and fit for purpose.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner with domain owners and product teams to understand business context, define data requirements, and translate them into domain data models and contracts.
- Establish and document data creation processes, including source-of-truth identification, event and entity modeling, and schema evolution strategies.
- Manage domain data assets in the data catalog, including metadata, lineage, ownership, SLA/SLO definitions, and data product documentation.
- Collaborate with platform teams to improve ingestion frameworks, transformation tooling, orchestration, and observability.
- Define and enforce data governance standards (access controls, PII handling, retention, compliance) within and across domains.
- Create re-usable patterns and templates for common use cases.
- Provide clear communication to stakeholders, including status updates, risk identification, and documentation of decisions and trade-offs.
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering/data management with domain-oriented design in complex, multi-use-case environments.
- Experience with modern data platforms and data lake/lakehouse architectures.
- Familiarity with streaming technologies and event-driven data models.
- Proven ability to understand and dissect existing, robust data models.
- Understanding of metadata management, catalogs, and lineage.
- Solid grasp of governance, security, and privacy best practices, including handling PII, GDPR/CCPA considerations, and role-based access controls.
- Strong communication skills, able to interface with technical and non-technical stakeholders and write clear documentation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience implementing data products in a domain-driven architecture or data mesh environment.
- Background supporting analytics engineering and ML feature pipelines.
- Prior consulting/contracting experience with the ability to operate independently and deliver against milestones.
- Positive stakeholder feedback on clarity, responsiveness, and business value delivered.
