Job Summary
The SAS Technical IT Expert is responsible for the design, implementation, administration, and optimization of SAS analytics platforms and environments. This role ensures stable, secure, and high-performing SAS systems that support business intelligence, advanced analytics, grid computing, and regulatory or operational reporting. The expert works closely with data scientists, analysts, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders to deliver reliable analytics solutions.
Key Responsibilities
• SAS Platform & Environment Management
Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain SAS platforms (SAS 9.x, SAS Viya).
Manage SAS servers across development, test, and production environments.
Monitor system performance and proactively resolve issues.
• Infrastructure & Integration
Integrate SAS with enterprise databases and data sources.
Collaborate on OS, storage, virtualization, and cloud deployments.
Support grid computing and disaster recovery solutions.
• Security & Compliance
Manage authentication, authorization, roles, and metadata.
Ensure compliance with IT policies and regulatory standards.
Support audits and documentation requirements.
• Automation & Operations
Develop and maintain batch jobs and scheduling.
Troubleshoot SAS jobs, logs, and performance issues.
Maintain SOPs and operational documentation.
• User & Application Support
Provide advanced technical support for SAS users.
Partner with analytics teams on reporting and model deployments.
Advise on best practices for SAS usage.
• Continuous Improvement
Evaluate patches, upgrades, and new SAS features.
Recommend platform enhancements.
Contribute to analytics technology roadmaps.
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Strong experience with SAS Administration (SAS 9.x and/or SAS Viya).
• Proficiency in Linux/UNIX environments.
• Experience with databases (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL).
• Knowledge of job scheduling and automation tools.
• Cloud platform experience (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform) is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Education & Experience
Bachelor''s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
5+ years of experience supporting SAS platforms in an enterprise environment.
SAS certifications are desirable (e.g., SAS Certified Advanced Programmer).
