Commissioning Manager

The Commissioning Manager / Start-Up Lead is responsible for the planning, execution, and successful delivery of commissioning and start-up activities for large-scale power generation and data center infrastructure projects. This role provides technical leadership, operational oversight, and team development to ensure systems are installed, tested, and placed into service safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all regulatory and company standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead commissioning and start-up activities for electrical, mechanical, and control systems including turbines, transformers, PDUs, cooling systems, BESS, and plant auxiliary equipment.
• Develop and implement commissioning plans, procedures, checklists, and acceptance criteria.
• Manage cross-functional teams including engineers, technicians, contractors, and operations personnel.
• Oversee safety programs, ensuring full compliance with OSHA, NERC, FERC, and site-specific safety standards.
• Coordinate with stakeholders to communicate commissioning status, risk mitigation strategies, and project milestones.
• Utilize CMMS platforms (Infor/Maximo) to schedule, track, and document preventative and corrective maintenance activities.
• Review and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and system schematics.
• Develop and deliver technical training to operations and maintenance teams.
• Monitor project budgets and schedules to ensure delivery within financial and timeline constraints.
• Identify performance gaps and implement corrective action plans to improve system reliability and operational readiness.
• Ensure quality assurance standards are met for installation, documentation, and turnover packages.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in power generation, data centers, or industrial commissioning environments.
• Strong background in electrical systems, I&C, and plant operations.
• Proven leadership experience managing technical teams.
• Experience with combined cycle, simple cycle, BESS, or large-scale data center infrastructure preferred.
• Proficiency in CMMS systems (Infor, Maximo).
• Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• May require travel and extended on-site presence during start-up phases.
