Specialty Software Engineer - ServiceNow

About the Role

We are seeking a Specialty Software Engineer (ServiceNow) to support complex, large-scale initiatives with broad organizational impact. In this role, you will design, develop, and deliver high-quality ServiceNow solutions while collaborating closely with cross-functional stakeholders. You will contribute to strategic planning, resolve multifaceted technical challenges, and apply sound engineering judgment to meet business and compliance requirements.

This position requires strong expertise in ServiceNow Service Catalog development, Agile delivery, integrations, and automated testing, with an emphasis on modern AI-assisted development practices.
Responsibilities
  • Consult on complex, large-scale Specialty Software Engineering initiatives with broad business impact.
  • Design, build, and enhance ServiceNow Service Catalog solutions, including catalog items, UI forms, workflows, and integrations.
  • Review and analyze complex technical challenges that require evaluation of multiple technical and non-technical factors.
  • Implement features based on user stories and acceptance criteria, ensuring alignment with business and compliance requirements.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Perform unit testing and support full SDLC activities, including development, testing, deployment, and post-release support.
  • Manage update sets and promote code across environments.
  • Troubleshoot production issues, conduct root-cause analysis, and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Collaborate with engineering and client teams through technical discussions and design reviews.
  • Apply responsible AI practices to accelerate design, development, testing, and analysis while ensuring security and compliance.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 5+ years of Specialty Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, consulting, education, training, or military service.
  • 3-5 years of ServiceNow development experience, with a focus on the Service Catalog module (Yokohama version or higher).
  • 3-5 years of experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
  • 3-5 years of experience with ServiceNow business rules, scripting, and application development.
  • 3-5 years of experience with ServiceNow Automated Test Framework (ATF) scripting or other automated testing tools.
  • 2-3 years of experience with integrations and API development using REST, JSON, and related technologies.
  • Proficiency in JavaScript and web technologies (HTML, CSS; React/Angular preferred).
  • Active ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) and Certified Application Developer (CAD) certifications.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot or approved code-centric AI agents).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Now Assist / Agentic AI, including Conversational Catalog capabilities.
  • 2-3 years of experience with ServiceNow EC Pro or modern portal development.
  • 2+ years of experience using Catalog Builder or equivalent citizen-developer tools and processes.
  • Experience with ServiceNow modules such as ITSM, CMDB, Report Analytics, Workspace, and Survey.
  • Experience with orchestration and integration tools such as Apigee, ESGA, Ansible, Amelia, or similar platforms.
  • Experience with API testing tools such as Postman.
AI Development Expectations
  • Leverage AI tools to improve efficiency in system design, coding, testing, troubleshooting, and analysis.
  • Apply strong technical judgment when validating and integrating AI-generated outputs.
  • Understand AI model limitations, security risks, and operational considerations.
  • Ensure AI usage aligns with organizational standards for security, privacy, compliance, and ethics.
