Job Title: Mule Integration Architect

Location: Remote/WFH 

Duration: 5 months+ contract

Role Overview:

• We are seeking a seasoned, hands-on Senior Integration Architect to independently own architecture and delivery for an enterprise integration initiative.
• The role requires strong MuleSoft expertise alongside broad integration engineering experience across APIs, middleware, event-driven solutions, partner integrations, and cross-platform orchestration.
• This is not a MuleSoft-only specialist role: the architect will select the right integration approach for each business need and lead delivery from requirements and solution design through implementation, deployment, and operational support.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead requirements workshops and solution discussions with business stakeholders, application owners, and delivery teams; translate requirements into integration designs, API contracts, data mappings, and technical specifications.
• Design end-to-end integrations across enterprise applications, cloud and on-premises systems, and external partners using API-led, synchronous, asynchronous, event-driven, and batch patterns as appropriate.
• Architect and implement MuleSoft solutions using Anypoint Platform; define reusable System, Process, and Experience APIs where appropriate, and establish API lifecycle and governance standards.
• Remain hands-on in prototyping, complex implementation, troubleshooting, and design and code reviews; guide and mentor engineers while maintaining accountability for technical delivery.
• Define security, performance, scalability, availability, and resilience requirements; design error handling, logging, monitoring, and recovery approaches.
• Establish development standards, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, environment strategies, and release practices; oversee deployment readiness and production stabilization.
• Own technical estimates, integration dependencies, risks, and trade-offs; coordinate stakeholders and distributed teams through the full integration lifecycle, including knowledge transfer and operational handover.

Required Skills and Experience:

• 7+ years of relevant integration engineering and solution design experience, including technical leadership of complex enterprise integrations; 4+ years of hands-on MuleSoft development or architecture experience.
• Strong hands-on knowledge of Mule 4 and Anypoint Platform, including API Manager, Exchange, Runtime Manager, and deployment architecture using CloudHub or Runtime Fabric.
• Expertise in API design and lifecycle management, REST and SOAP services, API contracts using RAML or OpenAPI, data transformation, and reusable integration patterns.
• Broad experience beyond MuleSoft with middleware, messaging and publish/subscribe patterns, partner/system connectivity, batch processing, and orchestration across multiple enterprise applications.
• Experience with enterprise connectivity such as HTTP/HTTPS, JDBC, JMS, and file-based interfaces; ability to evaluate platform and integration-pattern trade-offs rather than defaulting to a single tool.
• Proven ability to design secure, scalable, and resilient integrations and implement automated testing, CI/CD, monitoring, and production troubleshooting practices.
• Strong customer-facing communication, workshop facilitation, documentation, and stakeholder coordination skills; ability to work independently and guide distributed delivery teams.
