At Cleveland Clinic, everyone is a caregiver, no matter where and how they serve. As a CE Technician II, your work as a caregiver starts in our Clinical Engineering Department, where you participate in equipment planning, research, support and various projects. Using your training and skills, you will install, maintain and repair essential medical instruments and tools within the facility. All these efforts as vital to our ability to continue providing world-class care.

A caregiver in this position works days from 6:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. with on-call and weekend requirements. Start/end times are flexible.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:
  • Provide routine and as needed clinical engineering services (repair, maintenance, relocation, installation, etc.) for equipment.
  • Maintain documentation of equipment, inventory, service and repairs.
  • Collaborate with information technology caregivers to integrate medical equipment systems with information systems applications.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on equipment.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
  • Associate's Degree in Biomedical or Electronic Engineering and two years of Cleveland Clinic Clinical Engineering Technician I experience OR four years of experience maintaining and troubleshooting medical equipment or equipment in a mechanical or electrical technician field OR High School Diploma/GED and four years of CC experience or six years of outside experience OR equivalent specialized or military training OR Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical or Electronic Engineering or Information Technology

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Certified Clinical Engineer (CCE) or Biomedical Engineering Technologist (BMET)

Physical Requirements:
  • Typical physical demands include ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to climb 8-foot ladders and work on overhead equipment.
  • Ability to work in prone positions and in confined, darkened areas.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity to use hand and power tools and work on small mechanical parts.
  • Visual acuity sufficient to distinguish between colors used for wire color coding and read finely printed blueprints and schematics

Personal Protective Equipment:
  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
