Job Description
Required Qualifications/Skills/Experience
7+ years of experience in data modeling, Python, Java, Spark, and Big Data frameworks
Strong proficiency in Python and Java Spark with knowledge of core Spark concepts (RDDs, Dataframes, Spark Streaming, etc.)
Hands-on experience with Hadoop, Spark
Proficiency in Git, Jenkins, and CI/CD pipelines
Excellent problem-solving skills and strong mathematical and analytical mindset
Ability to work in a fast-paced financial environment
Candidate must understand data architecture and data modeling concepts
Experience with both SQL and NoSQL databases is required
Strong NoSQL knowledge is more important than SQL
Candidate should clearly understand the differences between SQL and NoSQL databases
AI exposure/understanding is required-This team currently uses Devin AI, GitHub Copilot, Cortex, Claude, and Gemini
Strong critical thinking, communication, empathy, and soft skills are important for the role
Preferred Qualifications/Skills/Experience
Experience working in financial services, financial markets, risk management, and financial instruments
Familiarity with market risk concepts, including VaR, Greeks, scenario analysis, and stress testing
Any data modeling tool experience is acceptable; this team uses a proprietary data modeling tool
Seeking a Data Modeler with expertise in big data processing, Python, Java, and Apache Spark, particularly within the finance domain. Candidate should have strong experience working with financial instruments, market risk, and large-scale distributed computing systems. This role involves developing and optimizing data pipelines for risk calculations, trade analytics, and regulatory reporting.
Job Duties
Develop and optimize scalable Java Spark-based data pipelines for processing and analyzing large-scale financial data
Design and implement distributed computing solutions for risk modeling, pricing, and regulatory compliance
Ensure efficient data storage and retrieval using Big Data
Implement best practices for Spark performance tuning, including partitioning, caching, and memory management
Design and implement distributed computing solutions for risk modeling and regulatory compliance
Maintain high code quality through testing, CI/CD pipelines, and version control (Git, Jenkins)
Work on batch processing frameworks for Market risk analytics
This team is transitioning from Sybase/SQL environment to Big Data platform
Main focus is Big Data and Data Modeling
Role is more data modeling focused than pure programming
Python is more important than Java; some Java experience is required
