The Opportunity:

A well-architected, fully secured data ecosystem is essential for enabling the Department of War ( DoW ) to execute its mission with precision, speed, and resilience. As a Database Engineer spe cia lizing in Zero T rus t, you serve as a critical technical leader ensuring that enterprise and mission-critical data systems remain secure, scalable, and aligned with evolving operational demands.

In this role, you apply deep expertise in database architecture, data security, access control, and automation to design, implement, and maintain t rus ted data environments across complex, multi-domain infrastructures. You collaborate closely with subject matter experts, mission owners, cybersecurity teams, and platform engineers to translate strategic objectives into robust, Zero T rus t-aligned data solutions that protect sensitive information at every layer.

As a Zero T rus t Database Engineer, you play a pivotal role in the design, integration, and operationalization of secure data architectures that enable mission systems to operate with confidence even under contested or degraded conditions. Your work strengthens the DoW's ability to defend, detect, and respond across the full spectrum of operations while advancing long-term modernization strategy.

You Have:

• 5+ years of experience in database engineering, including security
• Experience integrating databases with enterprise Identity Providers ( IdP ) and managing complex RBAC or ABAC models
• Experience with DoW Zero T rus t Strategy
• Knowledge of TLS 1.3, PKI, HSMs, and transparent data encryption
• Ability to map technical controls to data and visibility pillars
• TS/SCI clearance
• HS diploma or GED

Nice If You Have:

• Experience with system design, including scalability and reliability
• Experience with database encryption, including field-level encryption
• Experience securing managed database services such as RDS, Aurora, and Azure SQL, using cloud-native security tools
• Experience with HashiCorp Vault, Beyond T rus t, or AWS Secrets Manager
• Experience embedding database security checks directly into CI / CD pipelines

Clearance:

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $99,000.00 to $225,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees.
