Senior Database Administrator

Location: Columbia, SC

Work Arrangement: Fully Remote

Employment Type: Contract

Interview Mode: One round of Virtual/Online interviews.

Residency Requirement: Candidates MUST currently reside in South Carolina.

Migration Strategy: Assess existing databases for readiness and develop strategies for both on-premises and cloud-based migrations.

Execution & Coordination: Perform schema conversions, data transformations, and integrity checks to minimize downtime during application transfers.

Security & Compliance: Implement encryption (including TDE), manage roles/permissions, and ensure strict compliance with state and federal data regulations.

Performance Tuning: Optimize database performance during and after migration phases to ensure system stability.

Collaboration: Partner with application developers and infrastructure teams to resolve technical dependencies between migrating systems.

Maintenance: Handle standard DBA tasks including backup/restore operations, SSIS package management, and T-SQL development.

Senior SQL DBA: 3+ years of professional experience specifically as a Senior SQL Server DBA.

Migration Expertise: 1+ year of experience migrating application databases between different versions and platforms.

Disaster Recovery: 5+ years of hands-on experience with Backup and Restore procedures.

Technical Proficiencies: Strong experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and advanced T-SQL proficiency.

Security Management: Proven experience managing database roles, permissions, and encryption.

Automation: Experience using PowerShell for database administration and automation.

Advanced Security: Experience implementing Transparent Data Encryption (TDE).

Architecture: Strong understanding of Database Design and Normalization principles.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field (Relevant experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis).
