Job Title: Software Engineer / Databricks Engineer

Location: Remote

Duration: 11+ Months

Experience Level: 10+ Years

Required Skills and Experience:

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and optimize data engineering pipelines using Databricks, PySpark, SQL, and Python.
Architect and implement data models across Databricks, Delta Lake, and traditional relational databases.
Lead and execute cloud migration efforts from on-premises systems to Azure-based architectures.
Implement and manage Unity Catalog, Delta Lake, Lake flow, Lakebridge, and Databricks cluster/serverless environments.
Develop secure, scalable solutions leveraging Azure ADLS, ADF, RBAC, Azure SQL Server, and related cloud services.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define data requirements, governance standards, and best practices.
Support enterprise data warehouse initiatives and ERP-related data integration efforts.
Ensure compliance with security, governance, and operational standards across cloud and data platforms.
Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field.
10+ years of professional experience in software engineering, data engineering, or related disciplines.
Expert-level Databricks engineering experience, including:

Unity Catalog
Delta Lake
Lake flow
Lakebridge
Cluster management
Serverless compute
Data warehouse integration

Strong data modeling skills across Databricks and traditional databases.
Advanced proficiency in SQL, Python, and PySpark.
Deep experience with Azure cloud services, including:

Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS)
Azure Data Factory (ADF)
Azure security and RBAC
Azure SQL Server

Hands-on experience with on-prem to cloud migrations (data, pipelines, applications).
ERP system experience (data integration, reporting, or modernization).
Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience supporting scientific research environments or federal programs.
Knowledge of data governance frameworks and secure cloud architectures.
Familiarity with CI/CD, DevOps, or infrastructure-as-code in Azure environments.
