Job Title: z/OS Systems Engineer

Location: Charlotte (Onsite Day 1)

Duration: Long-Term Contract / Full-Time

Experience Required: 8+ Years

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced z/OS Systems Engineer to support and maintain IBM mainframe environments. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in z/OS system administration, performance tuning, system upgrades, and troubleshooting within enterprise-level environments.

Key Responsibilities:

Install, configure, and maintain IBM z/OS operating systems
Perform system upgrades, patches, and maintenance activities
Monitor system performance and optimize system resources
Manage SMP/E, JES2/JES3, RACF, and system utilities
Handle system backups, disaster recovery, and capacity planning
Troubleshoot system-level issues and coordinate with application teams
Implement security controls and compliance standards
Support batch processing and scheduling tools
Participate in on-call rotation (if required)

Required Skills:

Strong experience with z/OS system programming
Expertise in SMP/E, JES2/JES3, RACF
Experience with ISPF, TSO, JCL
Knowledge of z/VM, CICS, DB2 (Mainframe)
Experience in performance tuning and system diagnostics
Understanding of storage management (DFSORT, DFSMShsm, SMS)
Familiarity with automation tools like CA-OPS/MVS or equivalent
Strong problem-solving and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in banking or financial domain (preferred)
Knowledge of disaster recovery planning
Exposure to enterprise monitoring tools
IBM certifications (preferred)
