Summary

Job Summary

Humana’s Enterprise Information Protection (EIP) organization is seeking an experienced, results-driven Agile Coach to coach both new and experienced teams as they adopt and mature Scrum, Kanban, Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), and Lean Portfolio Management (LPM) practices across the cybersecurity portfolio.

The Agile Coach will work closely with delivery teams, Product Owners, Scrum Masters, engineering leaders, and executives to improve Agile maturity, optimize value delivery, remove organizational impediments, and establish sustainable continuous-improvement practices. The ideal candidate brings advanced SAFe and Agile Portfolio Management expertise, strong executive presence, and the ability to adapt Agile practices to a complex enterprise cybersecurity environment.

This contractor role provides an opportunity to partner directly with engaged leadership and make a measurable impact on cybersecurity delivery, team effectiveness, and portfolio-level outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coach Agile teams, Scrum Masters, Product Owners, and leadership on Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, and Lean-Agile principles.
  • Drive adoption and continuous improvement of SAFe practices across cybersecurity programs and portfolios.
  • Provide coaching at the team, program, and portfolio levels to improve flow, predictability, quality, and value delivery.
  • Partner with executives and senior leaders to establish Agile operating models aligned with business and cybersecurity objectives.
  • Facilitate Agile ceremonies including PI Planning, Scrum events, retrospectives, backlog refinement, Inspect & Adapt, and other SAFe events.
  • Support Lean Portfolio Management (LPM) practices, including portfolio prioritization, value-stream alignment, investment decisions, and strategic execution.
  • Coach teams on effective backlog management, prioritization, dependency management, estimation, capacity planning, and incremental delivery.
  • Identify organizational impediments and collaborate with leadership to resolve systemic delivery challenges.
  • Use Agile metrics and data to identify bottlenecks, improve predictability, and demonstrate measurable improvements.
  • Help teams transition from traditional delivery approaches toward sustainable Agile and Lean practices.
  • Promote a culture of transparency, accountability, collaboration, experimentation, and continuous improvement.
  • Configure and leverage Microsoft Azure DevOps to support Agile planning, work tracking, dashboards, reporting, and portfolio visibility.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity stakeholders to ensure Agile practices accommodate regulatory, risk, security, compliance, and operational requirements.
  • Adapt industry-leading Agile practices to Humana’s organizational culture, processes, and cybersecurity environment.
  • Provide executive-level communication regarding Agile maturity, delivery risks, dependencies, impediments, and improvement opportunities.

  • Experience coaching multiple teams in complex enterprise environments.

  • Excellent facilitation, communication, conflict-resolution, and influencing abilities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a highly dynamic cybersecurity environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • SAFe certification such as SAFe Practice Consultant (SPC), SAFe Agilist, or SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE).
  • Experience working within cybersecurity, information security, risk, compliance, or technology organizations.
  • Experience coaching organizations through Agile transformation or maturity initiatives.
  • Experience with enterprise-scale Agile metrics and reporting.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps Boards, Backlogs, Dashboards, Queries, and reporting.
  • Experience working with senior executives and technology leadership.
  • Bachelor''s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or a related discipline is preferred.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a senior-level Agile Coach / SAFe Coach / Enterprise Agile Coach who has successfully coached multiple teams and leadership groups in complex enterprise environments. They should be comfortable operating at both the hands-on team level and executive/portfolio level, with demonstrated expertise in SAFe, Agile Portfolio Management, Azure DevOps, and Lean-Agile transformation.
