Data Governance Engineer – OpenMetadata / Collate

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Data Governance Engineer with strong hands-on experience in Open Metadata, particularly Collate, and a proven track record of implementing data governance solutions for enterprise customers.

The candidate must have Pharma domain experience along with strong experience in Open Metadata and Collate.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Data Governance Workflows, Data Contracts, Data Products, RACI, Ontologies, Data Stewardship, Data Quality, and Metadata Management.

Good communication skills and the ability to provide approximately 4 hours of overlap with EST working hours are required.

Responsibilities

• Configure, implement, and support Open Metadata / Collate for enterprise data governance initiatives.
• Bring 5+ years of experience with Open Metadata tools, with strong hands-on expertise in Collate.
• Participate in and lead multiple Open Metadata / Collate customer implementations.
• Design and implement data governance workflows using OpenMetadata/Collate.
• Develop and maintain Data Contracts and support Data Product implementation.
• Define and maintain RACI frameworks for data ownership, stewardship, and governance.
• Develop and maintain Ontologies and metadata structures.
• Gather and clarify requirements from business and technical stakeholders.
• Translate business requirements into actionable data governance and data management solutions.
• Guide non-technical stakeholders on data governance processes, standards, and best practices.
• Drive cross-functional collaboration across Business, IT, Compliance, Data Owners, and Data Stewards.
• Assess and strengthen foundational practices in Data Quality, Data Stewardship, Metadata Management, and Data Governance.
• Define practical templates, standards, workflows, and governance processes.
• Support data validation and assessment activities through basic SQL/data querying and data profiling when required.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and collaborate with distributed teams.
• Provide ongoing support, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement for governance workflows and metadata management.

Required Qualifications

• Pharma domain experience – Mandatory.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with OpenMetadata tools.
• Strong technical expertise in Collate / OpenMetadata.
• Experience with multiple enterprise OpenMetadata / Collate implementations.
• Strong understanding of data governance principles and frameworks.
• Hands-on experience with Data Governance Workflows, Data Contracts, Data Products, RACI, and Ontologies.
• Experience with Data Quality, Data Stewardship, and Metadata Management.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Ability to translate business requirements into technical and operational data governance solutions.
• Experience working in complex, cross-functional environments.
