Partnering with the Engineering Manager and project team, the Electrical Project Engineer will steer the electrical side of each project from initial design through final commissioning. You will act as the technical hub connecting engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and customers so that projects finish safely, on time, on budget, and in line with customer expectations. The right person brings a solid grasp of industrial electrical systems and controls, with a primary focus on execution: design reviews, schedule control, testing, documentation, and customer communication.

What You'll Do

  • Orchestrate all electrical work from project launch through commissioning.
  • Scrutinize electrical designs, schematics, panel layouts, and documentation for accuracy, quality, and alignment with project requirements.
  • Drive electrical schedules and deliverables in partnership with internal teams and customers.
  • Monitor electrical equipment, materials, and supplier deliverables to keep manufacturing and project timelines on track.
  • Manage engineering design changes, making sure revisions are documented and shared with manufacturing and customers.
  • Represent the electrical scope as the main technical contact for customers on design, progress, and technical concerns.
  • Collaborate with mechanical and controls engineers, technicians, and production staff to answer technical questions during fabrication and assembly.
  • Lead and witness Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) to confirm systems satisfy contractual and functional requirements before shipment.
  • Examine project specifications, P&IDs, electrical standards, and customer requirements for compliance with applicable codes and internal quality standards.
  • Anticipate project risks, resolve technical issues, and protect schedules through proactive communication.
  • Travel domestically and internationally for customer meetings, testing, and commissioning.
  • Take on additional duties as assigned by management.

What You Bring

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience in Industrial Electrical Systems, Controls, Automation, or Project Engineering; entry level candidates with strong internship or co-op experience will also be considered.
  • Experience reading and reviewing Electrical Schematics, P&IDs, and Control Panel Drawings.
  • Background in Project Coordination, priority management, and Cross-Functional Collaboration.
  • Strong Organizational Skills to juggle multiple projects and competing deadlines.
  • Excellent Communication Skills for working professionally with customers, suppliers, engineers, technicians, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to review Technical Documentation and spot design improvements or potential issues.
  • Working knowledge of the NEC and applicable electrical codes.
  • Strong Problem-Solving ability, attention to detail, and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally to support customer meetings, FAT, Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and commissioning.
  • Strong awareness of safe work practices and procedures.
  • Must pass a drug screen, pre-employment physical, and background investigation.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with industrial PLC and HMI systems (Allen-Bradley preferred); programming experience is not required.
  • Experience with AutoCAD Electrical or similar electrical drafting software.

Compensation & Total Rewards

  • Salary: $70,000 to $120,000
  • Engagement: Full-time, direct hire; based in Columbia, SC, with a hybrid schedule available
  • Benefits: generous paid time off and holidays; a range of insurance options with employer matching; 401(k) with employer match; relocation assistance; strong advancement potential within a growing company
