Job Title: SAP S/4 HANA Technical Architect

Summary

The SAP Architect will lead the end-to-end technical architecture, integration strategy, and solution governance for the application modernization initiative to support conditional routing between SAP ECC and SAP S/4HANA. The role ensures architectural integrity across NetWeaver Java, SAP ECC, SAP S/4HANA, SAP JCo/RFC integrations, DTO transformations, BW/4HANA historical data access, and multi environment landscape (DEV QA Perf Prod). This position is essential to delivering the dual system interoperability required for 3PL (ECC) and non 3PL (S/4) transactions in the application.

Responsibilities

Architecture Ownership & Governance

• Own the complete architecture for enabling conditional RFC routing between ECC and S/4HANA in Application (GWT front end, SAP NetWeaver Java backend).
• Lead the S/4HANA impact analysis for all ~60 targeted RFCs (55 existing + 5 custom), ensuring alignment to SAP guidelines and Application design principles.
• Oversee architectural compliance with client standards as stated in the SOW.

SAP Integration & Technical Design

• Design and validate SAP JCo destinations, connection patterns, and technical workflows for ECC and S/4 dual routing.
• Analyse and define remediation requirements resulting from S/4HANA data model changes (e.g., material number length, profit center structure changes).
• Collaborate with S/4 Functional team to finalize RFC input/output mappings and interface contracts.
• Support the historical data strategy via BW/4HANA and ensure required connectivity and transformations are accounted for.

Environment & Infrastructure Readiness

• Define environment pre requisites for N+1 SAP NetWeaver Java instances (DEV, QA, Perf, Prod).
• Validate integration paths and environment level connectivity required for S/4 and ECC communication.
• Partner with Basis & Infra teams to ensure stability of build/deploy cycle (including NetWeaver WAR deploy constraints).

Technical Leadership & Delivery Oversight

• Provide architectural oversight to development teams executing standard and custom RFC modernization work.
• Ensure documentation of all technical changes in alignment with SOW requirements.
• Review low level design (LLD), code integrations, DTO transformations, and error handling strategies.

Testing, Quality Engineering & SIT/UAT Support

• Define technical criteria for QA, SIT, and UAT readiness for both ECC and S/4 paths.
• Support test teams on technical issues related to field length differences, connectivity, RFC changes, and data inconsistencies

Program Governance & Stakeholder Collaboration

• Participate in governance cadence: weekly status reviews, technical checkpoints, and architecture board reviews.
• Provide SME input for RAID (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies) tracking and mitigation planning.
• Partner closely with client technical architects to ensure all designs align with enterprise architecture standards.
