Job Description

We are seeking a Data Engineer to join our team supporting American Airlines. The candidate will design, build, and optimize large-scale data engineering solutions on Azure, develop robust data pipelines, and enable analytics and BI use cases leveraging SQL, Databricks, and Python.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes on Azure.


• Implement data ingestion, transformation, and curation using Azure Data Factory, Databricks, and Spark.


• Develop advanced SQL for data modeling, performance tuning, and analytics enablement.


• Operate within Agile and DevOps practices, including CI/CD with GitHub or Azure DevOps.


• Manage and optimize data lakes and storage including Azure Data Lake and Blob Storage.


• Support data governance, privacy, and cataloging activities.


• Collaborate with stakeholders and BI teams to deliver reliable data products and dashboards.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in a related technical field or equivalent experience/training.


• 5-7 years of software solution development in Agile/DevOps, building large-scale applications or data engineering solutions.


• 5-7 years of SQL for analytics, data modeling, and performance tuning.


• 5-7 years of cloud and data lake experience, preferably Microsoft Azure.


• Scripting: Python, Spark, Unix, SQL.


• Data platforms: Teradata, Cassandra, MongoDB, Oracle, SQL Server, ADLS, Snowflake, Azure Data Explorer. Administration skills are a plus.


• Azure services: Data Factory, Databricks, Blob Storage, Data Lake, Power Apps, Azure Functions, Event Hub.


• CI/CD tools: GitHub, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, Terraform.


• BI and analytics: Cognos, Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx, Denodo, Grafana.


• Clear understanding of data warehousing concepts.


• Data governance and privacy: Informatica Axon, EDC, BigID.


• Orchestration: Azure Data Factory, Tivoli.

Preferred Skills:

• Azure data services including Data Factory, Azure Functions, Azure Data Explorer (ADX), Event Hub, Azure Stream Analytics (ASA).


• Airline industry experience.


• Azure Development track certification and Spark certification.

Top Skills:

• SQL with strong query development.


• Azure Databricks and Spark.


• Python.


• Azure data lake and storage services.
