Summary

Senior OpenShift / Platform Migration Architect
Locations: Charlotte, NC | Dallas, TX | Chandler, AZ
Overview
We are seeking a Senior OpenShift / Platform Migration Architect to support a large-scale enterprise transformation focused on migrating legacy applications from on-premise data centers to modern platforms. This role blends hands-on engineering, architectural leadership, and cross-team orchestration, with a strong emphasis on OpenShift (OCP), AutoSys migration, and application modernization.
You will partner closely with full-time engineers and application teams to drive migration strategy, resolve complex technical blockers, and guide legacy applications through the full migration lifecycle-from readiness to production.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and support OpenShift (OCP) migrations and AutoSys job onboarding efforts
  • Partner with application and platform teams to define clear, executable migration paths
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership, mentorship, and consulting to engineering teams
  • Review Solution Review Packages (SRPs) and ensure applications meet "permit to build" requirements
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex networking, load balancing, firewall, and connectivity issues
  • Guide application teams in modernizing code and reducing dependency on virtual machines
  • Act as the escalation point for high-risk or complex migration challenges
  • Ensure alignment with enterprise standards, architecture guidelines, and DCMS requirements

Required Skills & Experience
  • Strong OpenShift / OCP expertise, including cluster administration, deployments, networking, routing, and troubleshooting
  • AutoSys job migration and scheduling experience
  • Solid understanding of data center networking, including AVI load balancing, firewalls, and connectivity
  • Broad development background with .NET (required) and Python or Ruby (preferred)
  • Experience with Ansible and infrastructure automation
  • Proven ability to lead migrations, including SRP reviews, architecture decisions, and permit-to-build processes
  • Ability to consult with application development teams and provide guidance on coding structure and modernization
  • Experience working across legacy, SAS-based, and modern applications
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to lead technical discussions and breakout sessions with SMEs

Nice-to-Have Skills
  • Security and compliance experience in regulated enterprise environments

What You'll Be Working On
This team supports a critical enterprise initiative to modernize and migrate 60+ legacy applications that have not been updated in years. Many of these applications require hands-on engineering support, architectural guidance, and coaching to move through the migration pipeline without disrupting "run the bank" operations.
Key workstreams include:
  • OpenShift (OCP) migration as a prerequisite to data center migration
  • AutoSys onboarding and job migration
  • SRP reviews and permit-to-build approvals
  • Application readiness across non-prod, pre-prod, and prod environments
  • Code modernization for legacy technologies (SAS, ECT, .NET, Ruby, Python, etc.)
  • Load balancing, firewall, and connectivity validation (AVI, networking, security)
  • Reducing VM footprint and avoiding unnecessary virtualization
  • Coaching application teams with limited recent hands-on development experience
  • Ensuring compliance with enterprise standards and DCMS requirements
