Job Summary
DHS is seeking an experienced PostgreSQL Database Administrator to support mission-critical applications in an AWS environment. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in PostgreSQL RDS administration, performance tuning, database design, automation, and cloud-based database management.
Required Skills
- 5+ years of PostgreSQL Database Administration experience
- Strong experience with AWS RDS PostgreSQL
- Expertise in query tuning, indexing, partitioning, and performance optimization
- Experience designing tables, schemas, functions, and stored procedures
- Knowledge of PostGIS and GIS-related database queries
- Experience with database monitoring tools such as Dynatrace
- Scripting experience with Python, Bash, or Shell
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and database deployments
- Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills
- Experience with database security, access controls, and encryption
Preferred Skills
- ETL/Data Warehouse experience
- Data replication and sharding
- Government or regulated environment experience
- AWS Database certifications
- Active DHS Public Trust or TS Clearance
Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain PostgreSQL databases in AWS RDS
- Optimize database performance through tuning, indexing, and partitioning
- Develop functions, stored procedures, and automation scripts
- Monitor database health and resolve performance issues
- Support CI/CD deployments and database releases
- Collaborate with developers on database design and optimization
- Maintain database documentation and best practices
