Ideal Candidate Profile: We are seeking a highly skilled Systems Support Specialist to support a secure, stable, and high-performing hybrid IT environment. This role is responsible for administering servers, identity systems, and enterprise services across on-premises and cloud platforms. The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical professional with strong experience in infrastructure operations, patch management, monitoring, backup, and system maintenance while following structured operational and security processes.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure Administration
- Administer and support Windows Server environments across on-premises and cloud infrastructure.
- Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP services.
- Support Microsoft 365 technologies including Exchange Online and Entra ID (Azure AD).
- Maintain system availability, performance, and configuration standards.
- Perform routine server administration, maintenance, and troubleshooting activities.
Patch Management & Vulnerability Remediation
- Execute structured server and infrastructure patching activities.
- Coordinate maintenance schedules and communicate system impact with leadership and stakeholders.
- Support vulnerability remediation initiatives aligned with security priorities.
- Validate and test patches before deployment into production environments.
- Track and maintain patch compliance documentation and reporting.
Security & Compliance Support
- Implement infrastructure security controls defined by the Information Security Office.
- Support identity and access management processes including MFA and access controls.
- Assist with system hardening, logging, monitoring, and security integrations.
- Participate in audit readiness and compliance support activities.
Monitoring & Incident Response
- Monitor enterprise systems and respond to operational alerts and incidents.
- Provide Tier 2/3 infrastructure support and troubleshooting.
- Participate in incident response, escalation management, and root cause analysis.
- Contribute to continuous service improvement initiatives.
Backup & Disaster Recovery
- Administer backup and recovery solutions for enterprise systems.
- Perform backup validation and restore testing activities.
- Support disaster recovery objectives including RTO and RPO requirements.
Change Management & Operations
- Follow established change management and operational governance processes.
- Execute infrastructure changes in a controlled and documented manner.
- Participate in CAB meetings and operational reviews as needed.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Network Engineering teams on infrastructure dependencies and connectivity issues.
- Coordinate with End User Services regarding user-impacting changes and support activities.
- Support Application and Data teams with system integrations and operational support.
- Communicate system status, risks, and operational issues to leadership teams.
Required Skills & Experience
- Experience administering Windows Server environments.
- Strong knowledge of Active Directory and Group Policy.
- Hands-on experience supporting Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, and Entra ID/Azure AD.
- Experience with patch management, vulnerability remediation, and system maintenance.
- Familiarity with backup and disaster recovery solutions.
- Basic understanding of networking concepts and infrastructure dependencies.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in government or regulated environments.
- Experience supporting hybrid infrastructure environments (on-premises and Azure).
- Familiarity with NIST or similar security/compliance frameworks.
- Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V.
- Exposure to monitoring, SIEM, or endpoint management tools.
