Solution IT Inc. is looking for VMware Migration Engineer for one of its clients in Remote
Job Title: VMware Migration Engineer
Responsibilities
- Define Data centre infrastructure/application migration strategy in a large-scale environment with over 100,000 hosts and thousands of PBs of storage
- Define multiple data migration strategies and use cases: database, object, NAS, backup, unstructured user data
- Manage and run VMWare V2V migrations on converged technology solutions such as Dell Power Flex, Power Flex Manager, Power Max or similar technologies
- Build Grafana dashboards to measure capacity consumptions applying P50, P95, P99 assessments
- Size and scope OpenShift Platform or other similar container workloads, right-sizing VM workloads to avoid overallocation of key resources: CPU, Memory
- Leverage site design for improved resilience and higher levels of workload (increased densification on host platforms)
- Mitigate risks associated with dependencies and ensure proper sequencing of events
- Develop and maintain an integrated migration roadmap with execution schedules
- Align migration plans to major code releases to leverage Sector's already planned checkout/verification activities Conduct testing to ensure that the systems work as expected
- Mitigate Risk concentration. Spread out migrations over different timeframes, i.e., do not migrate core Retail Banking & Cards applications in the same timeframe
- Manage delivery tower engineers, target data center landing zone builds. Ensure Wells technology standards, design principles, and architecture standards are followed.
Required Skills
- 5+ years of Technology Infrastructure Engineering and Solutions experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- 5+ years VMWare V2V migrations, sizing and scoping OCP or other similar container workloads, right-sizing VM workloads to avoid over-allocation of key resources: CPU, Memory
- 5+ years working in large scale environments, i.e., 100k plus hosts, several hundred PBs of storage
- 5+ years of converged technology solutions, Dell PowerFlex, PowerFlex Manager, PowerMax or similar technologies
- 2+ years of experience building Grafana dashboards to measure capacity consumptions applying P50, P95, P99 assessments
