A position is available for a software engineer to join a cross-functional team. The role involves evaluating a large, complex legacy code base and assessing the current CI/CD pipeline. The objective is to create a strategic roadmap for modernizing the code to facilitate modular builds.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in a cross-functional team to evaluate a legacy code base and assess the CI/CD pipeline.
- Create a strategic roadmap for modernizing code to enable modular builds.
- Work with stakeholders to validate and ensure the quality and effectiveness of all proposed enhancements.
- Identify technical obstacles from technical debt or system requirements and develop solutions.
- Build expertise with the existing catalog of shared CI/CD capabilities for integration into proposed build enhancements.
Required Qualifications
Education: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a comparable STEM discipline is required.
Technical Skills: The following technical skills are required for this role.
- Proficiency in modern C/C++ (C++11/14/17+).
- Hands-on development experience on Linux operating systems and command line toolchains.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps) to compile, test, and deliver builds for C/C++ projects.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with GitLab and various CI/CD pipeline strategies.
- Experience in architecting and designing large, complex legacy software systems, with expertise in Java, C, and/or C++.
- Experience in Automation and DevOps, including CI/CD definition, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automated testing, and release pipeline construction.
- Interpersonal and communication abilities for collaboration across teams.
- A track record of designing, implementing, and delivering microservices solutions.
- Problem-solving skills with the ability to perform trade-off analyses.
- Expertise in API design and integration, including REST, gRPC, GraphQL, and OpenAPI.
- Experience with static application security testing (SAST) tools like Fortify or comparable solutions.
- Familiarity with binary management repositories such as Artifactory or Nexus.
- Previous involvement with domestic programs at the Manassas, VA, site.
- Proficiency in modern software development methodologies, including Agile, Scrum, and DevOps practices.
