Data Engineer – SQL-First Migration Role (NO Spark/Databricks Profiles)
Remote is fine as well
Duration: 6 months
We are ONLY considering SQL-first, Python-scripting, warehouse-focused engineers.
We are seeking a Data Engineer to support a highly SQL-centric migration of business logic and reporting assets from Teradata and Snowflake into Google Cloud Platform BigQuery.
Key Responsibilities
· Rewrite and migrate SQL code, stored procedures, views, and BI logic from Teradata/Snowflake into BigQuery SQL
· Work directly with business users’ SQL to ensure functional parity
· Use Python scripting (not PySpark) for lightweight automation and validation
· Apply AI-assisted tools (ChatGPT/Claude) to accelerate SQL translation and logic review
· Support a warehouse-first modernization effort (no Spark, no Databricks, no streaming)
Required Qualifications
· 5+ years of SQL-first data engineering experience
· Strong SQL (window functions, joins, stored procedures, analytical SQL)
· Python scripting experience (Pandas, automation, validation)
· Experience with BigQuery, Snowflake, or Teradata
· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
· Strong aptitude and willingness to learn new tools quickly
