The Bank of New York Mellon seeks Senior Vice President, Back-End Engineer in Jersey City, NJ, to consult with internal business groups to provide high-level application software development services or technical support for backed features and components. Scaling the backend architecture and codebase to support growth. Provide comprehensive senior-level technical consulting to IT management and senior technical staffs. Evaluate compliance with the organization's technology standards. Program well-designed, testable, efficient code. Analyze, design and develop tests and test-automation suites. Develop flowcharts, layouts and documentation to satisfy requirements and solutions. Maintain software functionality and currency (technical debt and gain). Actively participate in code reviews. Integrate software components into a fully functional software system. Apply security and privacy principles. Work with internal business groups on implementation opportunities, challenges, and requirements of various applications. Analyze information and provide recommendations to address and resolve business issues for a specific business group. Guide and consult with IT management and technical staffs regarding use of emerging technologies and associated services. Participate in defining corporate implementation and integration strategies of new technologies. Use learning tools such as Pluralsight to complete both recommended and aspirational targets set in personal development plans. Stay abreast of emerging technologies. Advocate for innovative, creative technology solutions. Mentor junior level engineers. Contribute to the achievement of area objectives.

REQUIREMENTS: Requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering (any), or a closely related field of study. Requires nine (9) years of experience in the job offered, or a closely related occupation. Requires nine (9) years of experience in each skill below: Frontend development including Angular, HTML 5, CSS, JavaScript, and NodeJS; Backend development including Java (5.x, 7.x, and 11.x), Python (2.x, and 3.x), R, Flask, JSP, Servlets, EJBs, Spring, Struts, Apache Spark, Hadoop, and Pandas; Application development toolkit including Eclipse, RAD, NTS, IntelliJ, PyCharm, and Jupyter/iPython Notebooks; Security principles including Encryption and Decryption, Private and Public Key Infrastructure, Certificates, Kerberization, Authentication (Big Dog), and Secure Communication (SSL/TLS); Relational databases including Oracle, Sybase, Vertica, Snowflake, Hive, and Impala; Architecture design principles including MVC, SOA, SDLC, Microservices, Serverless Architecture, Multi-Tier Architecture, and Design Patterns (Factory, Command, Observer, Singleton, Pipes & Filter, and J2EE patterns); Multi-platform development tools and toolkits including Docker, Maven, ANT, OSGi, Apache Ivy, CI/CD tools, Shell Scripting, Jenkins, and GitLab; Vendor-specific methodologies including IBM Websphere, IBM MQ, IBM Datapower, IBM WorkManagers, WSO2 BAM/CEP, AquaLogic, Datastax Cassandra, Crystal Reports, Jasper Studio, ActiveMQ, Apache Kafka, Airflow, DROOLS Rule engine, Luigi Framework, Spring Suite Framework, and HazelCast; Structured methodologies including UML, Agile, Waterfall, Autosys, CI/CD pipelines, JNDI, Multi- Threading, Dataframes, and Shell Scripting.

BNY assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary/range for this position is expected to be $199,500.00 - $253,000.00 per year at the commencement of employment. Base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNY total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.

This position is at-will, and the Company reserves the right to modify the base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
