On-site in Cleveland 5 days a week

Overview
This role is responsible for designing, building, problem-solving, troubleshooting, and maintaining platforms within the current technology environment. The position involves analyzing complex technical problems and developing solutions to maintain the overall integrity of the platform, including operating systems, hardware, and software infrastructure. The engineer will collaborate with other IT professionals to ensure all components of the platform are working efficiently, securely, and resiliently, supporting both cloud and on-premises systems in support of DevOps efforts.
Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain platform hardware, software, and network requirements.
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to continuously improve platforms.
  • Manage and configure DevOps tools to support processes as per organizational needs.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to update, troubleshoot, and maintain platforms and environments.
  • Identify, prioritize, and implement automated and orchestrated fulfillment mechanisms to optimize delivery of key platform services.
  • Develop and implement security and resiliency policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Design and maintain backup, disaster recovery, and high-availability strategies.
  • Clearly communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Required Qualifications Experience:

  • 8+ years of experience in platform and infrastructure engineering, including automated interaction with physical and cloud environments.
  • Hands-on experience with containerization technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes (including Rancher).
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps methodologies, Git/GitOps (e.g., ArgoCD), and Infrastructure as Code using tools like Terraform, Ansible, or Chef.
  • Proven experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Nagios, Splunk, ELK, Sysdig, Fluentd, or Elasticsearch.
  • Strong scripting skills in languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Solid understanding of operating systems, networking, integrations, and deployment procedures.
  • Experience with cloud environments, with an emphasis on Azure.

Education:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field. In lieu of a degree, relevant experience will be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Azure Solutions Architect, Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer certification.
  • Proven expertise in maintaining platform-level runtimes, including ingress controllers (e.g., NGINX), TLS certificate lifecycle management, and secrets management integrations (e.g., HashiCorp Vault).
  • Experience deploying and managing observability tools, such as Sysdig for monitoring and CVE scanning, Fluentd for log forwarding, and Elasticsearch for log analysis.
