Job Title: Fiber Assembly Technician
Duration: 12-Month Contract
Overview
A leading organization in broadband connectivity, fiber and copper cabling, wireless infrastructure, and advanced network solutions is launching a new pilot manufacturing line to build a prototype fiber cable/connector product.
This is a greenfield initiative involving the development of new processes, equipment, and a fully integrated fiber assembly line built station by station within a cutting-edge manufacturing lab. The role is part of an advanced R&D and manufacturing environment focused on next-generation fiber connectivity technologies.
Project Details
The pilot line includes multiple stations such as:
- Sorting
- Stripping
- Prepping
- Coating
- Assembly
- Inspection
- Testing
- Documentation
Technicians will be cross-trained across all stations to ensure flexibility and scalability. Initial setup and validation are underway, with the team expanding to 10–12 technicians.
This role involves hands-on lab-based work focused on assembly, inspection, equipment operation, documentation, and quality assurance.
Key Responsibilities
Technicians will:
- Perform hands-on fiber assembly for prototype products
- Use tools such as microscopes, crimpers, stripping tools, epoxies, and precision assembly equipment
- Conduct visual inspections and quality checks at assigned stations
- Follow detailed work instructions, drawings, and standard operating procedures
- Document production results, measurements, and build notes using Excel or internal systems
- Troubleshoot assembly issues and escalate defects to engineering teams
- Rotate across stations to build full product assemblies end-to-end
- Work in a lab and manufacturing environment (not an office-based role)
Required Experience
No prior fiber experience required—training will be provided. Ideal candidates will have:
- Strong mechanical or electromechanical assembly background (e.g., cable harness, PCB assembly, medical devices, aerospace, robotics, automotive, or machine assembly)
- Experience using small hand tools such as crimpers, cutters, microscopes, calipers, or tweezers
- Ability to follow detailed written instructions and accurately document work
