IT Support Engineer

Overview

We are seeking a motivated and well-rounded IT Support Engineer to provide hands-on technical support at a local site. This is a newly created, standalone role, offering the opportunity to take ownership of IT support operations in a smaller, dynamic environment.
This position combines end-user support, project work, and application support, making it ideal for someone who enjoys both daily troubleshooting and contributing to broader IT initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Support

• Provide on-site support for:
  • Computer hardware
  • Windows 10 operating systems
  • Enterprise applications
  • Internally developed software
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues efficiently to minimize downtime
• Deliver high-quality support with a strong focus on customer experience

Project Support

• Assist with IT projects, including:
  • Equipment refreshes
  • New system and application rollouts
• Ensure smooth deployment and user adoption during implementations

Application & System Improvement

• Support and help maintain internally developed software solutions
• Partner with development teams to provide feedback and improve applications based on user experience
• Assist with basic enhancements and ongoing system maintenance

Collaboration

• Work closely with:
  • Internal IT teams
  • Software developers
  • Third-party vendors
• Act as the primary on-site IT resource while collaborating remotely with broader teams

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Strong experience in troubleshooting and technical support
• Hands-on experience with:
  • Windows 10 environments
  • Computer hardware support
• Ability to diagnose and resolve issues independently
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Comfortable working as a sole on-site IT support resource

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting enterprise and internally developed applications
• Exposure to IT project work (deployments, upgrades, rollouts)
• Ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Experience working with external vendors

Work Environment

• Fully onsite role supporting a smaller, multi-building location
• Independent role with support from a broader IT team
• Opportunity to take ownership of local IT operations

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Newport News, VA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.
