ServiceNow Lead Job Description

Role Overview

The ServiceNow Lead is responsible for leading the design, development, implementation, and support of ServiceNow solutions. The role involves working with business stakeholders, architects, and development teams to deliver scalable ServiceNow applications and ensure best practices across the platform.


Key Responsibilities

1. Platform Leadership

  • Lead the implementation and development of solutions on the ServiceNow platform.

  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to ServiceNow developers and administrators.

  • Ensure adherence to ServiceNow best practices, architecture standards, and governance.

2. Solution Design

  • Design scalable solutions using ServiceNow modules such as:

    • ITSM (IT Service Management)

    • ITOM (IT Operations Management)

    • ITBM / SPM

    • HRSD

    • CSM

  • Translate business requirements into technical designs.

3. Development & Customization

  • Develop and configure ServiceNow applications including:

    • Workflows / Flow Designer

    • Business Rules

    • Script Includes

    • Client Scripts

    • UI Policies

    • Catalog Items

    • Integrations (REST / SOAP APIs)

4. Integration

  • Integrate ServiceNow with external systems such as:

    • Identity management tools

    • Monitoring tools

    • CMDB data sources

    • Cloud platforms (AWS / Azure)

5. CMDB & ITSM Governance

  • Ensure proper CMDB design and data integrity.

  • Improve incident, change, and problem management processes.

6. Stakeholder Management

  • Work with business teams, product owners, and architects to gather requirements.

  • Provide technical guidance and roadmap for platform improvements.

7. Delivery Management

  • Lead sprint planning, backlog grooming, and release management.

  • Ensure quality through code reviews, testing, and documentation.


Required Skills

Technical Skills

  • Strong experience with ServiceNow platform development

  • Experience with:

    • ITSM

    • CMDB

    • Flow Designer / Workflow

    • IntegrationHub

  • Scripting languages:

    • JavaScript

    • Glide APIs

  • REST / SOAP API integrations

  • Service Portal or UI Builder knowledge

Tools & Technologies

  • ServiceNow Studio

  • ServiceNow App Engine

  • IntegrationHub

  • MID Server

  • Agile / Scrum tools (JIRA, Azure DevOps)
