What You Will DoWe're seeking a motivated, enthusiastic, Back-End Developer to support our team in designing, rebuilding and optimizing an existing SQL database system. This is a hands-on opportunity to work with real data, contribute to meaningful internal tools, and sharpen your full-stack development skills. This internship is a great opportunity to strengthen your technical skills while working with experienced developers on a business-critical application.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in designing, developing, and optimizing backend services and APIs
- Write efficient SQL queries, stored procedures, and data models
- Support backend development using Python and/or Java
- Support integration with front-end components using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Help build and maintain APIs and server-side logic
- Participate in debugging, testing, and code reviews
- Document database structures, processes, and updates
- Learn best practices in software development, security, and performance optimization
Qualifications You Must Have- Enrolled in a degree program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Understanding of programming fundamentals and data structures
- Interest in backend development and problem-solving
Qualifications We Prefer- Exposure to relational database systems (MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, etc.)
- Experience with Git or other version control tools
- Understanding of REST APIs
- Coursework or personal projects involving backend or database development
- Curiosity about cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform)
- Ability to collaborate, ask questions, and learn quickly
- Minimum GPA of 3.0

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.
As part of our commitment to maintaining a secure hiring process, candidates may be asked to attend select steps of the interview process in-person at one of our office locations, regardless of whether the role is designated as on-site, hybrid or remote.The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
