Job Details

SNC's Military Fellowship Program partners with programs such as SkillBridge and Hiring Our Heroes to provide fellowship opportunities to service members transitioning to the civilian workforce. These fellowships include up to six months of on-the-job industry training for eligible service members. During this time, participants gain valuable work experience in the civilian sector and build professional networks as they prepare for their transition to full-time civilian work.

NOTE: You must be currently serving on active duty to be eligible for this fellowship program. This program is not for veterans who have already separated from the military.

We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer to support the development, integration, and sustainment of advanced network architectures enabling Joint All-Domain Command and Control (JADC2) operations. This role plays a critical part in connecting sensors, high-altitude platforms, and area defense systems into a secure, resilient, and interoperable C2 framework that empowers real-time decision-making across air, land, sea, space, and cyber domains.

As part of a cross-functional engineering team, you will design and implement robust network infrastructures, ensure mission data flows securely and efficiently across domains, and contribute to innovative research and development initiatives that shape the future of distributed C2 and data transport for the joint force.

The ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance), Aviation, and Security (IAS) business area is a leader in ISR and aviation, it is a leading prime manned and unmanned aircraft systems integrator for innovative, high-performance ISR and aviation systems. Its end-to-end Command, Control, Computers, Communications and Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance (C4ISR) capabilities encompass design, integration, test, certification, ground/flight training and complete logistics support. IAS tailors solutions to customer cost, performance, and schedule requirements and designs to consistently exceed expectations - with an unrivaled record of on time and on (or under) budget deliveries.

Responsibilities:
  • Design, configure, and maintain mission-critical network architectures that enable secure, low-latency data exchange across multiple domains and environments.
  • Support the integration of sensors, communication nodes, and high-altitude systems into distributed C2 networks.
  • Develop and implement network transport solutions leveraging IP-based routing, tactical data links, and cross-domain technologies.
  • Conduct network performance analysis, optimization, and troubleshooting, ensuring resilient operations in contested or degraded environments.
  • Implement and manage network security controls (firewalls, VPNs, encryption, VLAN segmentation, Zero Trust principles) to protect mission data and assets.
  • Collaborate with software, DevSecOps, and systems engineering teams to integrate automated network deployment and monitoring capabilities.
  • Support internal Research and Development (IRAD) activities aimed at advancing next-generation networking, mesh, and tactical communication technologies.
  • Perform risk and opportunity assessments related to network architecture, infrastructure scalability, and cybersecurity posture.
  • Document network configurations, diagrams, and security compliance artifacts to meet DoD and program-specific requirements

Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Currently serving as active duty military and be eligible to participate in the DoD SkillBridge program
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field with at least 2 or more years of relevant experience
  • Higher education may substitute for relevant experience
  • Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of required education
  • Experience with network security technologies (firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, TACLANEs, PKI, etc.).
  • Strong working knowledge of routing/switching protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS) and network management tools (SolarWinds, Wireshark, NetFlow, SNMP).
  • Familiarity with DoD or government network environments, including RMF compliance and STIG hardening.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex network issues in both lab and operational environments.
  • Certifications: Security+ to support firewall administrative privileges
  • Experience with route-based IPsec, policy, basic SD-WAN concepts
  • Experience with navigating Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Window's based operating systems
  • Current/Active Secret U.S. Security Clearance is required.

Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Juniper SSR and VSRX experience
  • Experience working with DoD tactical data / Datalinks (JREAP, UCI, ASTERIX, VMF, VOIP, etc)
  • Experience with network optimization / QoS to support edge based data distribution
  • Entry level experience with Software coding / script(s) development to support simple applications

This posting will be open for application for a minimum of 5 days and may be extended based on business needs.

SNC offers a generous benefit package, including medical, dental, and vision plans, 401(k) with 150% match up to 6%, life insurance, 3 weeks paid time off, tuition reimbursement, and more.
