Database Administrator (Oracle & Postgresql) with AWS-RDS and AWS-DMS | REMOTE | Long-Term Assignment

Title: Database Administrator (Oracle & Postgresql) with AWS-RDS and AWS-DMS
Location: Remote
Duration: Long Term

***Candidate has to be on W2***
***Candidate will be managing both RDS Oracle and Postgresql. But, Oracle expertise is mandatory***

Core Responsibilities:

Oracle Administration & Engineering (Primary - 80%)
Performance Tuning: Diagnose complex performance bottlenecks using AWS PI (Performance Insights), AWR, ADDM, and ASH reports to optimize PL/SQL code, SQL queries, and execution plans.
Cloud Management: Configure, maintain, and upgrade Amazon RDS for Oracle instances under both BYOL and License Included models.
Architecture & Design: Design tablespaces, partitioning strategies, and parameter groups optimized for AWS infrastructure.
High Availability: Maintain Multi-AZ deployments, read replicas, and backup/restoration patterns using AWS snapshots and Oracle Data Pump.
Security & Compliance: Enforce database security policies, manage Oracle roles/privileges, and apply patches via RDS Option Groups.

PostgreSQL Operational Support (Secondary - 20%)
Routine Maintenance: Oversee daily operations, health monitoring, and connection pooling (e.g., PgBouncer) for Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL instances.
Query Optimization: Use EXPLAIN ANALYZE to isolate slow-running queries and provide indexing recommendations.
User Management: Provision database access, configure schemas, and map roles matching corporate access profiles.
Storage Management: Monitor vacuum settings, autovacuum health, and disk bloat to prevent performance degradation.

Required Skills & Qualifications:
Mandatory Technical Skills (Oracle Expert)
Experience: Minimum 5+ years of dedicated experience as an Oracle DBA, with at least 2 years focused on Amazon RDS for Oracle.
Tools: Mastery of Oracle SQL Developer, SQL*Plus, Data Pump, and AWR analysis.
Languages: Strong proficiency in writing, debugging, and tuning complex PL/SQL blocks, stored procedures, triggers, and packages.
Concepts: Deep understanding of Oracle internal structures (SGA, PGA, Undo tablespaces, and redo logs).

Secondary Technical Skills (PostgreSQL Knowledgeable)
Hands-on Exposure: Practical experience managing PostgreSQL databases in a production environment (preferably via AWS RDS or Aurora).
SQL Dialect: Ability to translate or adapt complex queries between Oracle PL/SQL and PostgreSQL PL/pgSQL languages.
Parameters: General familiarity with standard postgresql.conf parameters (e.g., shared_buffers, work_mem).

Cloud & General Tech
AWS Infrastructure: Solid understanding of IAM roles, Security Groups, VPC routing, and CloudWatch metrics.
Automation: Scripting experience using Bash, Python, or AWS CLI to automate routine administrative tasks.

Preferred Certifications:
Oracle Database Administration Certified Professional (OCP)
AWS Certified Database – Specialty or AWS Certified Solutions Architect
