Network Security EngineerPrimary Focus: Palo Alto Firewalls & PanoramaRole OverviewWe are seeking a Senior Network Security Engineer to serve as the Directly Responsible Individual (DRI) for our enterprise firewall and DNS infrastructure. This is a hands-on, technical role focused primarily on Palo Alto Networks firewalls and Panorama, with secondary responsibility for Check Point and Fortinet platforms.
The ideal candidate will own the day-to-day operations, design, and continuous improvement of our global security infrastructure. This position requires deep technical expertise, strong operational discipline, and the ability to lead complex firewall initiatives end-to-end.
Key Responsibilities- Act as the DRI for firewall and DNS services, ensuring availability, security, and operational excellence.
- Lead and execute the migration from Check Point and FortiGate to Palo Alto firewalls, including policy conversion, validation, testing, and cutover.
- Perform hands-on administration of Palo Alto firewalls and Panorama, including:
- Security policy design and optimization
- NAT, VPN (site-to-site and remote access), routing, and high availability
- Logging, monitoring, and troubleshooting
- Familiar with Strata Logging Services
- Palo firewall deployment in Cloud Provider (AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform)
- Provide operational support and lifecycle management for Check Point and Fortinet firewalls during transition and steady-state operations.
- Manage and support DNS infrastructure, with Infoblox experience strongly preferred.
- Partner with network, cloud, and security teams to ensure firewall policies align with business, application, and security requirements.
- Experience with routing and switching (preferred Juniper)
- Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and post-incident improvements related to network security controls.
- Develop and maintain documentation, standards, and operational runbooks.
- Drive continuous improvement, automation opportunities, and platform standardization.
- Serve as a technical escalation point and subject matter expert for firewall and DNS technologies.
Required Qualifications- 5+ years of hands-on experience managing Palo Alto Networks firewalls in an enterprise environment.
- Strong experience with Palo Alto Panorama, including centralized policy management and operations.
- Proven experience with enterprise firewall migrations, ideally Check Point to Palo Alto.
- Solid working knowledge of Check Point, Fortinet and Palo firewalls.
- Strong networking fundamentals, including:
- TCP/IP, routing and switching
- NAT, VPNs, IPSec VPNs
- BGP and OSPF (preferred)
- Experience supporting manufacturing, engineering, and enterprise environment that are mission-critical to the bu.
- Ability to work independently, take ownership, and drive outcomes as a DRI.
Desired Skills & Experience- Experience with DNS platforms, particularly Infoblox.
- Experience in hybrid or cloud-connected environments (AWS, Azure, or similar).
- SASE Solutions: Experience with Prisma Access, Zscaler, Netskope or similar Secure Access Service Edge architectures is a significant plus.
- Certifications: PCNSE (Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer) is highly preferred. CCNP/CCIE Security or CISSP is a bonus.
- Automation: Familiarity with scripting (Python, Bash) or Terraform for automating firewall policy deployments.
- Familiarity with ITIL processes, change management, and security best practices.
