Contract: 6 month to potential full time
Pay: $50-52 based on experience
Schedule: M-F, 8am - 5pm
Position Overview The Project Manager is responsible for leading the initiation, planning, execution, and closure of the Network Redesign project, a critical initiative within the medical center's Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Modernization (CIM) program. This role partners closely with OSUWMC stakeholders and Cisco Systems and oversees multiple network and security-focused workstreams to deliver simple, supportable, secure, and scalable target-state infrastructure.
As a member of the IT Portfolio Management Office (PMO), the Project Manager ensures consistent, high-quality delivery of complex enterprise technology projects while balancing scope, schedule, cost, risk, quality, and stakeholder expectations.
Key Responsibilities Project Lifecycle Management - Lead projects through initiation, planning, execution, monitoring/control, and closure
- Develop and maintain project charters, schedules, and execution plans
- Coordinate solution design, build, installation, go-live, training, and transition to operations
- Manage cross-functional internal teams, consultants, and vendor resources
- Establish and manage project baselines for scope, schedule, and cost
- Track milestones, dependencies, risks, issues, and deliverables
- Ensure project quality through deliverable reviews and adherence to requirements
- Manage multiple concurrent initiatives within the CIM program
Scope Development - Collaborate with business, clinical, and IT stakeholders to define project scope and objectives
- Conduct independent research and fact-finding to assess effort, cost, and timelines
- Evaluate hardware, software, and licensing requirements
- Support development of project budgets and discuss ROI and expected benefits
- Ensure formal acceptance of project scope and objectives
Requirements Elicitation & Validation - Partner with user communities to validate solution alignment with business needs
- Elicit and document requirements using:
- Interviews and workshops
- Site visits and surveys
- Business process and workflow analysis
- Use cases and functional analysis
- Analyze and reconcile requirements from multiple sources
- Distinguish between stated requests and underlying business needs
- Produce and manage project artifacts such as:
- Business Requirements Documents (BRDs)
- Functional requirements
- Use cases and design artifacts
- Challenge assumptions and guide stakeholders toward feasible, effective solutions
Communication & Stakeholder Management - Develop and execute project communication plans
- Prepare and deliver project updates and presentations to diverse audiences
- Serve as the primary liaison between sponsors, IT teams, business partners, and vendors
- Coordinate communications with internal communications or marketing teams as needed
- Ensure transparency and alignment across all stakeholder groups
Budget Planning & Financial Management - Provide budget estimates for hardware, software, and professional services
- Support RFP development, vendor evaluations, and cost comparisons
- Track project expenditures and ensure proper billing and financial reporting
- Identify upcoming budget needs and financial risks
Vendor Management - Coordinate and manage vendor-led implementation activities
- Ensure vendor deliverables align with program timelines and quality expectations
- Maintain productive, accountable relationships with external partners
Process Improvement - Identify and recommendopportunities to improve PMO processes and maturity
- Contribute to internal process improvement initiatives and task forces
- Adopt and promote new PMO standards, tools, and methodologies
Professional Development - Stay current on industry trends, standards, and best practices
- Maintain PMI certification and participate in professional development activities
- Engage with professional project management organizations (e.g., PMI)
Other Duties - Maintain project documentation repositories and operational procedures
- Develop training and transition materials as needed
- Complete required organizational training and compliance activities
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications - Experience managing enterprise IT infrastructure or network-related projects
- Familiarity with network technologies and cybersecurity concepts
- Proven experience in vendor and stakeholder management
- Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a complex environment
- Demonstrated commitment to collaboration, transparency, and customer satisfaction
Preferred Qualifications - PMP or PMI certification (required or must be obtained as a condition of employment)
- Experience working in healthcare, higher education, or regulated environments
- Experience supporting large-scale infrastructure modernization programs
