Summary

Job Title: SQL Database Administrator (SQL DBA)
Location: Richmond, VA (Hybrid 2 3 Days Onsite/Week
Key Responsibilities
  • Administer, maintain, and support Microsoft SQL Server databases across development, test, and production environments.
  • Monitor database health, performance, availability, and capacity.
  • Perform SQL Server installation, upgrades, patching, and configuration.
  • Manage database backup, recovery, High Availability (HA), and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions.
  • Support migration of on-premises SQL Server databases to Microsoft Azure.
  • Assess existing database environments and recommend migration strategies.
  • Optimize SQL queries, indexes, stored procedures, and overall database performance.
  • Implement database security, user access controls, and compliance best practices.
  • Collaborate with cloud engineers, application developers, infrastructure, and security teams.
  • Create operational documentation, migration runbooks, and database standards.
  • Support production deployments, troubleshooting, and change management activities.

Required Skills

  • 6+ years of SQL Server Database Administration experience.
  • Strong Microsoft SQL Server administration expertise.
  • Experience migrating SQL Server workloads to Microsoft Azure.
  • Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, Azure Virtual Machines.
  • Database performance tuning and optimization.
  • Backup, Restore, High Availability (HA), and Disaster Recovery (DR).
  • Database security administration and compliance.
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
