DescriptionChurchill Consulting Engineers, now part of the growing Artheon engineering platform, is seeking a Vice President of Structural Engineering to join our leadership team. Artheon brings together several established consulting engineering firms including Churchill Consulting Engineers, CME Associates, and Naik Consulting Group, forming a collaborative organization of more than 600 professionals delivering complex infrastructure solutions across transportation, utilities, and public works.
While this position is being hired within Churchill Consulting Engineers, the Vice President of Structural Engineering will play a key leadership role in shaping and expanding Artheon's transportation structures practice across the broader platform.
This role offers the opportunity to lead and grow a high-impact practice focused on bridge and transportation-related structural projects, while helping guide the strategic direction of the broader organization. The Vice President will oversee the planning, design, and delivery of complex transportation structures while also driving business development, strengthening client relationships, and mentoring the next generation of engineering leaders.
The ideal candidate is a highly regarded transportation structural engineer with deep experience delivering projects for NJDOT, NJTA, and similar agencies, and a proven ability to build and lead strong teams. This is a unique opportunity to join a growing leadership group within Artheon and play a central role in expanding one of the region's most respected transportation engineering platforms.
Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical & Project Leadership- Provide technical oversight and quality control for transportation structural projects including:
- Highway and railroad bridge
- Culverts and retaining walls
- Sign structures and ancillary transportation structures
- Structural rehabilitation and load rating
- Serve as Engineer of Record on complex structural projects
- Oversee project delivery from concept through final design and construction support
- Ensure compliance with AASHTO, NJDOT, NJTA, and applicable codes and standards
Strategic & Business Leadership- Lead the growth and strategic direction of the Structural Engineering Department
- Support business development efforts, including:
- Client relationship management
- Proposal development and interviews
- Identification of new market opportunities
- Collaborate with executive leadership on firm-wide planning and growth initiatives
- Represent Churchill at industry events, conferences, and client meetings
Team & Operational Management- Manage and mentor a team of structural engineers and designers
- Oversee staffing, workload planning, and resource allocation
- Participate in hiring, performance evaluations, and professional development
- Foster a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and accountability
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master's preferred)
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in New Jersey (required)
- Minimum 15+ years of progressive experience in transportation structural engineering
- Extensive experience with NJDOT, NJTA, and/or other major transportation agencies
- Strong background in bridge design, rehabilitation, and structural analysis
- Proven leadership experience managing teams and complex projects
- Excellent communication, client-facing, and presentation skills
- Experience with AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications
