Data Center Technician

Location: New Albany, OH
We are seeking skilled Data Center Technicians to support mission-critical data center environments by installing and decommissioning cable and fiber infrastructure. This role is ideal for hands-on technicians who take pride in quality workmanship, enjoy working in fast-paced environments, and want to contribute to large-scale data center operations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Installation and decommissioning of network and cabling infrastructure in a Data Center environment
  • Deliver sustainable and repeatable solutions and processes, always with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Provide structured feedback on project progress to stakeholders
  • Exhibit high-quality workmanship on all tasks and maintain data center cleanliness
  • Follow all production, safety, and quality standards, codes, and industry best practices
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to remove project obstacles
  • Read and comprehend blueprints, building documentation, and redline work
  • Demonstrate a broad understanding of data center infrastructure technologies

  • Knowledge and use of basic telecom hand tools
  • Strong understanding of customer service fundamentals
  • Clear understanding of job safety requirements
  • Ability to read and understand floor plans
  • Familiarity with wiring schemes and wiring testing
  • Ability to pull all types of low-voltage cable
  • Capability to perform field terminations and labeling
  • Reports to the Operations Manager and takes daily direction from Technicians, Technician II, Lead Technicians, Senior Technicians, and Advanced Senior Technicians
  • Capable of maintaining orderly paperwork and running service jobs
  • Ability to lay out MDF and IDF closets, dress all types of cable, and perform all types of terminations
  • Experience working in data center environments
  • Ability to install ladder racking and seismic bracing above and under raised floors
  • Basic understanding of copper and fiber cable testing and troubleshooting
  • Read and understand blueprints and design documents
  • Dress and furcate fiber trunks for splicing
  • Maintain orderly paperwork and run service work
  • Perform fusion splicing including Ribbon, Single OSP, and ISP
  • Install, connect, and decommission network equipment
  • Operate DSX 5000 testers and OTDR testers
  • Program testers
  • Download test results to LinkWare / LinkWare Live
  • Save, verify, and submit test results to customers
  • Create mass labels and apply per port map
  • Differentiate live cables from decommissioned cables
  • Perform copper testing and troubleshooting
  • Conduct service swaps of live networking devices
  • Understand and operate within the FIM database
  • Primarily walking, standing, and bending for extended periods, with some sitting
  • Strong verbal, written, visual, and listening communication skills
  • Manual dexterity to operate tools, equipment, and computer hardware
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to pull cables
  • Ability to climb ladders and work on raised platforms

This is a Contract position based out of Fort Wayne, IN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.
