Required skills:
• Thorough knowledge and experience with the configuration, implementation, and management of monitoring and performance management application technologies.
• Thorough knowledge and experience with a broad range of information technologies including multi-tiered client-server computing environments, web technologies, networking technologies, operating systems,virtualization technologies, applications programming interfaces (and other integration techniques), relational database systems and software development, migration and batch scheduling tools.
• Strong troubleshooting capability, including ‘hands-on’ experience and coordination of issue resolution(including assigning appropriate resources based on skillset, ability, etc.).
• Ability to conduct and/or support infrastructure related discussions and offer guidance, feedback and evaluation support for various technical options that may be presented.
• Considerable knowledge of IT development and support procedures, methods and practices.
• Considerable knowledge of IT software development life cycles and implementation models.
• Considerable knowledge of IT infrastructure requirements gathering techniques.
• Considerable knowledge of IT Program Management techniques, such as work breakdown structures,scheduling, estimating, resource balancing and common Project Management tools.
• Ability to recognize, analyze and provide solutions to difficult information technology problems.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Con ED IT and Business staff.
• Strong leadership skills.
• Must be proficient in MS Office tools (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), with the ability to create charts,graphs, and spreadsheets (will provide training if needed).
• Experience with Kafka and Casandra
• Shell scripting experience • Experience with architecture planning
• Experience with developing technical documentation
• Work with application vendor resources to identify forthcoming application patches and hotfixes
• Work with customer/user groups to identify bug and enhancement requests to be delivered to vendors
Responsibilities:
• Must have hands on experience with Linux and/or Windows in a large corporate environment.
• Must have experience with Architecture planning, Documentation, and User administration.
• Diagnose and resolve AMI application related performance issues, and present findings, resolutions,conclusions and other relevant detail to IT senior management.
• Perform system configuration, testing and system performance reviews.
• Work with application vendor resources to identify forthcoming application patches and hotfixes.
• Ensure the integrity and availability of the AMI related infrastructure, and develop strategies to minimize system downtime. Support Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery.
• Work with customer/user groups to identify bug and enhancement requests to be delivered to vendor(s).
• Work with other Con Ed IT resources from groups such as application vendors, application support.
• Responsible for the up keep of both MAMS and MDMS instances running on both Windows and Linux Operating Systems
• Develop and document associated application standards to be used as a basis for technology implementation and operational support
• Identify areas for infrastructure improvements to enhance performance of applications and application servers
• Ability to lead technical projects as required
• Responsible for monitoring daily backups for both MAMS and MDMS applications
• Oversee the daily tasks of the system analysts to ensure that operational practices are being adhered to
• Responsible for the delegation of the systems specialist when necessary
• Provide daily reports of the overnight batch processes, which are critical to the integrity of the systems, to the systems manager
• Perform other related tasks and assignments as required
