Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior DB2 Database Migration Engineer with strong hands-on expertise in IBM DB2, Oracle, database migration, and IBM Maximo environments.
The consultant will be responsible for supporting a large-scale migration of data from Oracle to DB2 for IBM Maximo environments, including database preparation, data migration, validation, reconciliation, and troubleshooting across multiple environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform large-scale Oracle-to-DB2 data migration activities.
- Support migration of large-volume enterprise data across development, test, pre-production, and production environments.
- Work with IBM DB2 / DB2 LUW databases supporting IBM Maximo.
- Analyze and validate source Oracle and target DB2 database structures.
- Develop and execute SQL/scripts required for data extraction, transformation, loading, and validation.
- Support migration of database objects including tables, indexes, views, triggers, synonyms, functions, and stored procedures where applicable.
- Perform data validation, reconciliation, and integrity checks following migration.
- Identify and troubleshoot data migration issues, database errors, and inconsistencies.
- Work closely with Maximo SMEs and technical teams to validate migration scope and results.
- Support database performance optimization and troubleshooting during migration activities.
- Document migration procedures, validation results, issues, and resolutions.
- Ensure migration activities are executed consistently across multiple environments.
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong hands-on experience with IBM DB2 / DB2 LUW.
- Strong experience with Oracle Database.
- Proven experience with Oracle-to-DB2 database/data migration projects.
- Experience working with IBM Maximo databases or Maximo environments.
- Strong SQL skills and experience with database scripting.
- Experience with database schema analysis and data mapping.
- Experience migrating and validating large volumes of enterprise data.
- Strong understanding of tables, indexes, views, triggers, synonyms, functions, and stored procedures.
- Experience with data reconciliation, validation, and integrity testing.
- Strong troubleshooting and database performance skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment and collaborate with technical and functional stakeholders.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with Maximo database migrations or Maximo implementations.
- Experience supporting multi-environment enterprise migrations.
- Experience with DB2 migration utilities and database administration tools.
- Experience with migration automation and scripting.
- Experience with enterprise ERP/EAM database environments.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a DB2/Oracle migration specialist who has successfully participated in large-scale database migration projects and understands the technical database requirements of IBM Maximo environments.
Candidates with a combination of DB2 + Oracle + Maximo + Oracle-to-DB2 migration experience will be strongly preferred.
