Vaco has a direct-hire opportunity with a highly stable client located in downtown Cincinnati for an experienced Workday HCM professional.

This role will serve as a key technical owner of the Workday environment, with responsibility across system administration, integrations, security, reporting, and ongoing optimization.

This is an onsite position in downtown Cincinnati, and as an added perk, the client provides free parking for all employees.

Key Responsibilities

Workday Administration & System Optimization

  • Serve as a primary technical owner for Workday HCM, managing configuration across Core HCM, Onboarding, and Time/Absence.
  • Maintain, test, and enhance Business Process Framework configurations, condition rules, and validation rules.
  • Manage Workday security architecture, including role-based, user-based, and domain security policies, while maintaining compliance, data privacy, and audit readiness.
  • Lead evaluation, regression testing, and deployment of Workday's semi-annual R1/R2 feature releases in partnership with HR stakeholders.

Integrations & Operational Support

  • Monitor, support, and troubleshoot scheduled Workday integrations, proactively addressing interface failures, payload issues, and data discrepancies.
  • Build and maintain integrations using Enterprise Interface Builder (EIB), Core Connectors, Document Transformation, and Workday Studio.
  • Support automated data feeds connecting Workday with other enterprise platforms, including recruiting, time-tracking, and ERP systems.
  • Develop and refine custom transformations using XSLT and web services, including SOAP and REST APIs.

Managed Services Transition & Operational Excellence

  • Support the transition of Workday technical ownership from an external managed services provider to an internal IT model.
  • Audit and document the current Workday environment, including active integrations, runbooks, credential rotations, and outstanding technical debt.
  • Establish internal ticketing, change management, documentation, and environment promotion standards across Sandbox, Preview, and Production.

Reporting, Analytics & Data Integrity

  • Design, build, and maintain complex Workday reports, including Advanced, Matrix, and Composite reports, as well as calculated fields.
  • Support reporting needs across HR, Finance, and executive leadership.
  • Perform regular data audits to identify configuration gaps, synchronization failures, and orphan records while improving automated data validation.

Required Qualifications

  • 3-5+ years of hands-on Workday HCM system administration experience within a mid-to-large enterprise environment.
  • Strong experience developing, modifying, and troubleshooting Workday integrations using EIBs, Core Connectors, and Workday Studio.
  • Proficiency with XSLT, XML, SOAP/REST APIs, and Web Services.
  • Strong understanding of Workday security groups, business process definitions, and supervisory organization structures.
  • Experience working within a Workday environment previously built or maintained by a third-party provider, including technical discovery and documentation.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills with the ability to translate technical issues into clear, practical solutions for HR and business stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Workday Pro Certification in Core HCM, Integrations, Reporting, or a related area.
  • Experience transitioning a Workday environment from an external AMS or managed services partner to an internal IT model.
  • Experience integrating Workday with enterprise ERP platforms such as JD Edwards, SAP, or Oracle.
  • Experience with recruitment platform integrations such as iCIMS.
