Job Title: IT Governance and Compliance Analyst

Job Location: Chesterfield, VA

Job Type: Contract

Job Description:

The IT Governance and Compliance Analyst (w/AI) will support higher education IT governance, regulatory compliance, and AI-related policy development.
The role focuses on ensuring compliance with security and privacy regulations, supporting audits, and continuously improving governance practices related to emerging AI technologies within academic and administrative environments.

Responsibilities:

Maintain IT governance frameworks that support academic, research, and administrative operations.
Monitor and enforce compliance with FERPA, HIPAA, and other higher education and security regulations.
Coordinate AI-related collaborations and prepare documentation for internal and external audits, including accreditation-related technology compliance.
Develop and coordinate AI-related updates to policies, standards, and guidelines under ITS oversight, including data privacy, cybersecurity, and ethical use of technology resources.
Use AI tools to monitor compliance with security awareness programs for faculty, staff, and students.
Track emerging AI governance regulations and compliance best practices in higher education.
Provide recommendations for continuous improvement of governance and compliance processes.

Requirement / Must Have:

Strong experience in IT governance, risk, or compliance roles.
Strong understanding of regulatory compliance in higher education environments.

Experience:

Minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in IT governance, risk, or compliance roles.
Experience with AI governance and compliance in higher education or regulated environments preferred.

Skills:

Familiarity with governance frameworks such as COBIT and ITIL.
Knowledge of compliance standards including NIST and ISO.
Understanding of higher education systems including LMS, SIS, and ERP platforms.
Knowledge of AI data privacy and compliance requirements.
Strong analytical skills to interpret complex AI compliance requirements.
Strong communication skills to engage faculty, administrators, and technical teams.

Qualification And Education:

Bachelor s degree in Information Technology, Business, or a related field preferred.

Work Environment:

Primarily onsite with flexibility to work remotely up to 2 days per week.
Reports to the Director of IT Governance, Risk, and Compliance.
