Job Description:
The Hybrid Cloud Systems Engineer will provide comprehensive professional services in support of planning, design, implementation, operation, and optimization of its hybrid cloud infrastructure.
The role requires a strategic and hands-on expert to evaluate the current environment, recommend architectural improvements, implement solutions, and embed FinOps best practices to reduce costs and increase operational efficiency.
The engineer will support existing platforms, including Database administration, Azure VMware Solution (AVS), Azure App Services, and Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) with Nerdio, and manage legacy infrastructure during transitions to cloud-native solutions.
The engineer will collaborate with internal teams, external vendors, and knowledge transfer stakeholders to ensure the continuity and sustainability of the implemented solutions. The scope of services encompasses infrastructure modernization, security integration, cost optimization, and operational excellence, all in alignment with enterprise IT and security strategies.
Duties
The estimated pay range for this position is USD$55/Hr - USD $65/Hr. Duties
- Perform ongoing database tuning, indexing, and optimization in alignment with application performance.
- Review, manage, and optimize SQL Server environments, both on-prem and in Azure.
- Ensure backup, restore, and high availability configurations are documented and tested for all SQL environments.
- Evaluate and optimize existing cloud infrastructure, including IaaS, PaaS, and hybrid components.
- Lead FinOps initiatives.
- Assist in assessment planning and migrating legacy databases to Azure SQL Managed Instances, ensuring minimal disruption and optimal performance alignment.
- Ensure server and database integration with monitoring (Azure Monitor, Log Analytics) and security tools (Defender for Cloud, Sentinel).
- Serve as a system administrator for Windows Servers, Azure Virtual Desktop, and Azure VMware Solution.
- Proven experience as a Database Administrator managing SQL Server (2012+), including performance tuning, failover clusters, Always On availability groups, and SQL Agent jobs.
- Experience managing SQL in hybrid environments (on-prem + Azure SQL MI) and cloud native Azure SQL Databases.
- Proficiency in Windows Server administration (Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, RDP) and basic Linux administration.
- Proven experience in designing and managing Azure infrastructure at enterprise scale.
- Understanding of Azure cost management tools.
- Understand the concept of Managing Azure VMware Solution (AVS).
- Understand the concept of Managing Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD).
- Excellent documentation and diagramming skills.
- Demonstrated ability to translate business needs into technical requirements and collaborate effectively across IT and business teams.
- Strong communication, documentation, and stakeholder engagement skills to support alignment and knowledge sharing.
