Job Details

Position Summary
The Electrical Engineer III is the technical leader for electrical engineering at our site, guiding both new product development and sustaining engineering across three product lines. You define electrical system architecture, lead complex design efforts, and ensure our equipment meets performance, reliability, manufacturability, cost, and regulatory requirements. You serve as the primary electrical lead on customer-driven development projects and work closely with Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, Product Management, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and global engineering teams to take products from concept through production.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and own electrical system architecture for new and existing equipment platforms.
• Design, develop, modify, test, and evaluate electrical and electromechanical systems, including control panels, power distribution, and circuitry.
• Develop electrical designs and schematics, select components, and complete electrical documentation from concept through product launch.
• Lead customer-driven development projects: gather requirements, evaluate feature requests, and translate customer needs into technical solutions.
• Configure, test, and tune PLC-based machine control systems, including motion control, VFDs, and PID control.
• Review and approve engineering changes, drawings, specifications, and bills of material through the ECO/ECN process.
• Manage component obsolescence and evaluate new technologies to support current and future platforms.
• Lead root cause analysis and resolve complex technical issues for manufacturing, field service, technical support, sales, and customers.
• Work hands-on with the production floor and mechanical engineering team to support builds, prototypes, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Partner with the software engineering team on machine control requirements and integration.
• Conduct design reviews and support project planning, risk management, and schedule tracking across concurrent programs.
• Interface with suppliers and customers on complex technical matters and assist with quotes for custom projects.
• Establish engineering standards and best practices, and drive continuous improvement.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical preferred).
• 5-7 years of experience designing electrical systems for complex industrial machinery or automated equipment.
• Relevant backgrounds include industrial automation, packaging machinery, conveyor systems, robotics, and machine builders.
• Experience with PLCs, motion control (servo and stepper), industrial networks, and machine control.
• Electrical schematic and control panel design, power distribution, and UL/IEC compliance.
• New product development experience, including design reviews and design for manufacturability.
• Sustaining engineering experience: root cause analysis, obsolescence management, and engineering change orders.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
• Working knowledge of oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and transformer and power supply sizing.
• Curious, hands-on, and comfortable serving as the go-to electrical expert on site.
